Well sorry mate but i did spend a time reading the question and then again as not sure of the answer here ,the air bag light should be sorted as this is no doubt just the connections under the seat need a clean from where the police drink cans of coke and junk food and they throw under the seat interfering with teh connectors ,but as for the brakes ?? well we use a different system for brake lights here in europe and the american system is a no go here as far as the vehicles go as they have to have a seperate yellow indicator not funny confusing red lights ,in fact they would be a big nick and fine here and i have converted no end of vehicles to europeon standard with new lights for import ,Now what i think here is someone has just yanked the wires out from the police blues and twos connection under the dash so i have no idea what was connected to what and where and i would be inclined to rewire the whole lot from scratch. The ABS light and the brake light is a puzzle though as i cannot even try to figure this one out and they will need sorting and the airbag as this would render the vehicle a inspection failure here ,also a vehicle couldnt be sold without an inspection certificate stamp if i had the vehicle in front of me with a wiring diagram i could no doubt work out what was wrong but it would take a bit of time to say the least .Most of our police cars are diesel here but petrol engines are used on the motorway cars but 7 dollars a gallon for petrol ?? although the police in the UK use subaru or mitsubishi EVOs but here in spain they use renaults mainly.i keep trying to think of how these brake lights are wired but ?? i cannot think of anything that would throw the ABS light other than a sensor fault or even a corroded toothed sensor ring on a drive shaft ,maybe asking a local mechanic with experiance on this make of vehicle would help who knows anyway best of british with your venture
prices vary between states in europe but spain is a bit cheaper ,try norway ?? now you know why we like diesels that will do 50++++ mpg ,and i get to work on diesel jeeps and explorers with manual gearboxes ,only the super rich or companies can afford big petrol cars like jags and mercs here ,best seller in europe for both these companies are the diesel varients like the S type with a diesel engine ,i mean a car like a jag with a diesel engine or a big merc with a 4 cyl diesel ?? .When i answer questions on here about a certain model and iam assuming its a diesel and it turns out to be a 5.something V8 petrol engine and i have never seen these models and iam going on about how to repair the smaller 4 cyl version i feel such a banana .Anyway dont worry the inspection thing every year will come about in every country before long so get it done right now ready for when it does come in and enjoy your car whilst you can and petrol is cheap for you because one day you will be asking me how to fix a renault clio diesel manual or a peugeot .

Thanks for the response alicantecoli. You are right about the soda and junk food.. the pull out console holder was gunked up with spilled sticky stuff and cigarette ashes were under the dash trim pieces. Even the electronic selector for the internal blower is sticky, I may replace that unit eventually. I don't really care about tracing airbag connectors though so i've decided i'm going to deal with the beeping issue. I read somewhere online that the audio for the door chime is a unit soldered onto a circuit board in a black box casing near the radio. I think the sound is coming from there too. I may just sacrifice the chime (even though I like the one telling me the lights are on, but the "fax machine" is too annoying - for both me and my woman). Luckily the county I live in doesn't require testing yearly or on used vehicles sold - so as long as the dash lights are off and there's no sounds i'm ok with that. Wow 7 dollars for petrol, huh? With this car, If I had to pay that - I think I'd be riding my bike or walking more haha.
