I have a 2004 Mazda RX-8 and the driver side lock will not fully go to the open position and the door will not open either from inside or outside. It feels like it is still in the locked position and neither handle will open the door. Passenger side door works just fine. It feels like it has no tension to pull the latch to open when pulling the handles. Just before this problem occurred, the lock may have been half way between the locked/unlocked position (not sure), the door was barley shut (still ajar but latched). The problem was noticed then, the door was fully shut after that.

Pull the door panel off and inspect the door latch, it is most likely defective.

SOURCE: 1992 Mazda MX-5 Door handle problem.

you will have to take the panel off to see why the inner lock/activator isnt working properly, besides youll have to take it off to fix it anyway.Maybe as simple as a bent handle to lock rod being bent and no longer long enough to activate lock correctly.youll just have to look and see.Let me know what you find

SOURCE: Jeep TJ Wrangler Outer door handle removal

The handle is held in place by two vertical wedges on both sides of the handle. To remove just force the wedges up with a hammer and screwdriver (be careful of the glass). Putting them back in is very difficult. I would suggest making the bends or adjustments with it installed so you'll know exactly how much you need. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Need detailed diagram of 1998 latch mechanism to remove connections from it

there is no diagram... the latch is also a non-servicable latch, so if your problems in the latch- it needs a latch. i would look more closely at the outside door handle itself as i have seen a few of them break on the E series vans.you may be able to get detailed instructions thru autozone.com or @ autozone. hope this helps and good luck

Door is loked on rear driver side want open

Won't open from outside? Won't open from inside? Equipped with power door locks? IF so, and won't open inside/outside, suspect stuck power door lock actuator. Sometimes working the lock/unlock button will make the door unlock. If not, the door will require disassembly from inside to determine what the failure may be. If the door needs disassembly while in the closed position, the paneling/clips may get damaged FYI

2004 mazda 6 estate front driver side will not open with the key or fob

the 1st answer makes sense however since the fob isn't and the key isn't may possibly have a frozen (rusted) latch which may be freed up with some sort of penetrant oil, or just maybe the latch mechanism itself (lock actuator \) it bad ...the trim panel on the door will need to be rmoved to daignose

2004 Mazda RX-8 turn car off and remove keys. flashing interior lights, clicking noise from driver rear door. Remove battery cable to make it stop. Help!

The problem is an electrical failure in your circuitry. From Fuse to lights, to the door switches is a complete circuit. It is possible the lock switch is stuck or faulty making the motor keep running. There may be a relay that is sticking open for that door motor. Between the switch and motor if you do have the relay. I would try disconnecting the lock switch on that door first, then if it still occurs try disconnecting lock or window the one on the drivers side. If the problem still occurs, then your looking at a problem in the electrical such as shorted wire somewhere.

The driver's door won't open. It appears that the handle latch might be broken. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. All the other doors and trunk work from remote.

If the drivers door on your 2004 Mazda 6 does not open from the inside or the outside then chances are the lock/latch assembly is jammed or you might need to replace it. In order to get the door open the inside door trim will most likely need to be at least partially removed to access the inner workings of the door. This is no easy task as the panel is designed to be removed with the door open. If care and patience are used this can generally be done without major damage to the inside door trim panel.

Drivers side door will not open with handle or lock. key 8not turning lock

Stick small red tube that comes with WD-40 lube in the key slot as far as you can & spray generously. May take 3 or 4 times, then keep trying, it may be just rusted/seized/corroded.

Door locks

Regarding the rear door child locks: There is a small lever on the latch side of the door, you can only see it with the door open. Move it to the other position.

Regarding the front door locks: You either have a bad door lock switch, or the power lock solenoids are beginning to fail. To check this, you will need to pull the door panels off, & measure the actual voltage at the solenoids whilst manipulating the lock switch. If you have 12 + VDC, I would suggest replacing the door lock solenoids. Not hard to change, but it IS time consuming. Best left to a dealer. Expect to pay 1 hour per side to change each solenoid.
