I have a 2002 Chevy Avalanche and never had any problems with it until now. I have a slow charging system draining at night. I have to use a jump box to start the truck, but once I have it started then it will start all day long. I replaced the battery and alternator. I used to have 14.1 volts, but now I am getting 13.7-13.9 volts. I checked all of the lights, switches and everything is turned off and still getting a slow charging leak over night some where. Help.

I'm having power problems and I want to try everything I can before buying a battery or new alternator. My truck will start fine with a jump but when I disconnect the jumper cables it turns off. I've seen that some vehicles have mega fuses and I was just wondering if mine had one so that I could check and see if that's the problem.

I'm no mechanic but did you add any accessories to the truck.
Lights GPS System Sound system etc etc.
An stereo amplifier that would not shut off with the deck cause it's shorted would kill that battery every night.
I myself had added a set of driving lights and one of my Relays I had installed Jammed and it would do the exact same thing.. all day no problems.. but overnight wont start..
If I remember correctly you disconnect the negative from the battery and connect a Test light from the battery to the disconnect lead.. if the light turns on theres a load on the system.
yes you need to disconnect the light of the hood or push down on the switch to leave it off.

Hope this helps took me 2 weeks to find my dumb relay issue.

Mitsubishi Diamante 2002 - slow battery drain when not running.

This problem may be a drain or a bad battery or alternator.

The first thing to do before going on trying to find the system that is draining the battery would be to have the battery tested and charging system tested.

A weak battery will seem ok after the car is jumped or will barely start the car and the alternator will charge it even though the alternator is overworking due to weak battery and during the day or when car does not sit long it will seem ok. then when car sits overnight or a few days battery will weaken on its own, making it look like a drain,

so first step is battery test and alternator/charging system test.

My 2002 toyota echo drains the battery over night. Any ideas of what it can be?

More than likely battery doesn't hold a charge overnight. After time batteries don't charge as deeply and can't hold a charge. Jump start and take to any good parts store and have them load test your battery (they do this FREE) Autozone or Advance would be my first choices. While there have them test your charging system - they do this FREE also.

My 2003 Chevy Avalanche is having trouble shifting from 2 wheel to 4 wheel or to Auto Drive. Every time I start the truck it is in the 4 x4 mode regardless of where it was left when last turned off. I live...

Just a question. Does the truck do this after the truck is warmed up. If not this is a temp. issue and can be a few items. Generally this is an electric switch issue. Remove the fuse from the system when you shut it off for the night and see if it still jumps to 4x4 mode.

My 2004 Chevy Avalanche won't turn over

verify all connections. A defective battery can affect the ability to jump start. It can also take out the assist battery or assisting vehicle alternater.

The meter will jump when the engine isn't running proper. It sounds like a fuel pump issue to be honest.

Chevy Avalanche won't start

If you're getting no power at all when you turn the key to start, try disconnecting the battery and then hook it back up. Chevy has had some problems with an ignition relay solenoid that's mounted under the driver's side dash. Disconnecting power could reset the switch....If that seems to be it, a replacement is around $250. at a chevy dlrshp.
