I have a 1983 chevy c10 and it was running like a champ last night and this morning it had problems starting, running, and driving. It will glug, spit black smoke, backfire, and then die. i tightened the idle screw about 4 turns and got it to start and run but only at a high idle. i reset the carb screws but and runs better now but still only at high rpms and still very rough idle. any ideas?

This sounds like you may have a fuel pump gone bad. Turn the key and listen for a pump whine, if you DO hear one then i guess i am wrong but this is what i would most likely consider first
the spark from the starter is a loose wiring or short starter, but the main thing is you can crank it,check it, you have a spark at plugs if yes check if your pump is working
