Passing smog.... 2000 dodge intrepid ES with 139000+ mi.. what do you have to do to get the OB computer the retain info to do its self testing for passing? never had any problems with the vehicle.let alone smog check???changed the battery before taking down for smog test, they told me to drive it for 30 miles or so and bring it back I did - nothing yet. recommended same so off I go driving and nothing driving again..... it has now been 9 months and it still wont read???? getting very frustrated at this point - ready to sell this car!. how many miles is it gonna take?? am I not driving it correctly?? is there something else going on???

It could take more driving always make sure you have between 1/4 -3/4 tank or monitors cant run has anyone checked to make sure the EGR is functioning? Not just the valve but the EGR system?

NOX is produced when cylinder temperatures exceed 2500 f.
Your vehicle has 2 ways to directly reduce NOX, EGR system, and catalytic converter, and also the cooling system indirectly.
Take a look at the EGR system, vacuum lines, pipes, and make sure the diaphragm moves. Disconnect the vacuum line, then push on the diaphragm and plug the hole (from vacuum line) when you release the diaphragm there should be vacuum. Also you may want to take it out and give the EGR passages and EGR valve a good cleaning, with some type of carbon cleaner like carb cleaner.
