My liftgate latch is malfunctioning also, I've had it refuse to open- we had to crawl in and open from the inside. It's also been unlocking/latching itself - on it's own- we have to stop and get out and re-close it.

I had the same problem with my 2008 Outlook. The pressure pad is the area that gets pressed when you pull up on the handle to open the liftgate. A wire leading up to this pad broke off.

The pad is called a "GMC Acadia Saturn Outlook Rear Lift Gate Open / Release Latch Switch Pad new OEM". $17 on ebay.

To open your liftgate when the touchpad is not working, do the following:
1.Remove the cover plug that is located on the interior panel of the liftgate. It’s at the bottom, just below the two interior lights.
2.Looking through the plug opening, you’ll be able to see the small lever shown in the picture.
3.Take a flat blade screw driver and push the lever back towards the back of the car.
The door will click open.

Then you can remove the interior panel and access the touchpad.

I had the same problem it turned out to be a defective pressure pad in the tailgate. Mine would open while driving. The dealership changed under warranty and no problem to date.

Saturn 2008 Outlook. How do we get to the inside of the liftgate to fix the window sprayer?

with the liftgate open you have to find the screws that hold the cover on, remove those and pop it off, even without the screws in it it will have some clips that hold it on, you just have to pull or pry til it pops off and then you can access the spritzer hose.

I have a chevy traverse 2009. The power tailgate wont stay up on the strut. it was working fine the day before. the gate opens to the fully open position before slipping resulting in the gate closing

It's now a recall item. See below.

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 15V415000
Component: STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE
Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
Potential Number of Units Affected: 686287

Year: 2009
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Traverse
Manufactured
from: 2008-07-06
to: 2012-02-29
Recall Date: 2015-06-30
-->
Summary:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured January 3, 2007, to February 29, 2012, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured July 6, 2008, to February 29, 2012, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured September 15, 2006, to February 29, 2012, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured August 17, 2006, to March 18, 2010. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.

If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. Owners were mailed interim notices on August 3, 2015. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and Saturn customer service at 1-800-553-6000. GM's number for this recall is 15240.

My Saturn Outlook liftgate falls down after you open it

buy a new pair of gas liftgate struts on eBay for about 50 bucks. there are just a few ways to anchor them which will become evident when you see the fasteners on the new ones. i have changed these on 3 saturn wagons, never took more than 15 minutes for both. generally snap off a cover, pull it off a ball joint and install in reverse order

two pieces of advice:
1) you are going to need some type of hoist, jack, or tree branch to hold the door fully open while you work on it. do not trust a woman or kid to do this unless you will be wearing a helmet.

2) get a spray can of chain lube at a parts store and spray it ilberally around all joints and shiny metal surfaces before you put the new ones on.

Liftgate won't unlock/open on Saturn Outlook 07

there is a small plastic cover on the inside of the liftgate near the center. Pry it off with a small screwdriver and you'll have to probe around a bit with a larger flat screwdriver, but there's a small lever in there that will trip the latch. Is it a power liftgate by chance???
I have parts if needed...
