My Riviera stalled while I was driving about 60 the other day. Now it will start and the engine will rev up, then, instead of idling, the car just stalls out. If I let it sit for a couple of hours or so, it will run for 5 or 10 minutes before it stalls, but it runs really rough. What could this possibly be?

I have a 1990 Buick Riviera with the same problem. Stalled going about 60 on the interstate, and now the temp gauge maxes out, the car stalls, and will not start unless cranked hard. the idle is also extremely high. tried replacing the IAC and it worked for one drive but stalled again when the car door was slammed.
Driving along and engine just quits, check engine light comes on. Floored throttle pedal to keep engine chugging along, went about 2 miles and then it kicked back in and is running fine now. This has happened several times in the last three months. Need solution.....
Ignition coil or timing gears and belts....what might it be?????
