The key you had, was a security key. They use transponders now and they hide the electronics in the plastic head of the key. Anyways, if the security light is on, then YES the antitheft system is triggered and shutting you down. This link will help you with info and solutions.
Alot of the time the anti theft security can actually disable your starter. Check to see if there is a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a little picture of a car with a lock thru it. This would be a dead give away of the security problem. Check out this link for info and DO IT YOURSELF solutions to this problem.
best advice here is to ask a local mechanic to have a look as engine shouldnt have started knocking with teh new oil in unless someone has put tranny fluid into teh engine or something stupid ,the lights for the airbag shouldnt be connected but the oil light ?? Do not drive car untill a mechanic has come around and checked it out for you though as this oil light coming on and knocking noise is serious
OUCH! sounds like by reversing the polarity the "good Samaritan" blew out your ECM. Unless you can replace it yourself you might want to call a place that will tow it for free to fix it
Try to start the leve key on for 10 min, turn off (wait 10 sec) then try to start again and leve on for 10 min again, turn off and try again wait 10 min, turn off for 30 sec and then start engine.
this should not effect your emmisions test.however if you recently changed your oil.there is a reset switch under the hood in the fuse panel unless you've changed the oil recently don't reset it .hope this helps
The mechanic is only clearing the codes for you.Witch will get the light out for you.But he isn't telling you your fault. knowing the light will come back on in time.Change the mass air flow meter. Then get the coeds cleared. You can remove and clean the EGR valve.if that is causing the problem.
