"Module on the side of the distributor" ignition control module.
Most trucks have a valve on the fuel rail it looks like a valve you would see in a tire valve stem. When you turn the key to the on position just before rolling it to the start position the fuel pump should come on for 3-5 seconds this is to prime the fuel system. You should be able to remove the fuel cap and listen while you have someone turn the key to the on position ok. The fuel pump will not run again until the truck is running. There are two things I want you to do. 1- when it acts up I want you to stray starter fluid into the intake ok if it starts to run on it’s own until the starter fluid burns off then we know it’s a fuel problem that has to be your first step. From there it can go into several different directions. I will look for your reply tomorrow

Until you do a fuel pressure check and know what your fuel pressure is don't just replacethe fuel pump. Could also be your tft module on the side of the distributor
Check that by doing a fuel pressure check
could be a problem fuel pressure regulator

remove the air filter housing from the throttle body, or if its mult-ported injection, remove the large air duct. Do this the night before. The next day, before cranking and having a spray can of carb. cleaner, spray a couple of shots of carb cleaner either into the large air duct, spray towards the engine, or if its single body injection, spray directly on to the throttle body.
Crank engine immediately, preferrably have some one else sitting in the car to start it after you spray.
If the car even tries to start, replace cold start relay.

if the fuel pump cutoff was tripped it would not start at all, I know this for sure, I am a Ford dealer tech and I specialize in no starts and check eng lights. If the ignition switch is bad the 2 halves of the switch will be starting to come apart, it is very common, u should be able to either see it or feel it with your hand.

First thing to check out will be the fuel pump relay under the hood. It is the one who drives the pump, so if it is defective the pump will not work either to prime the engine, or to make it run. Secondly, you need to check if the fuel filters are OK cause sometimes they clog up and prevent enough fuel from reaching the engine. Thirdly, check the injector(s) for cloging, and clean or replace them as needed. If none of this helps, then the problem probably has nothing to do with fuel delivery, and the next step to check will be the whole ignition system, which is also one of the most comon bronco problems.

Check the fuel pump reset switch again, if it is popped back out then replace that little switch in the trunk, any ford one will do. it works off a magnet and a bearing to close the circuit for the fuel pump. easy fix.

your vehicle is fuel injected you should not have to pump the gas pedal plugs and wires ill bet that solves your problem and changeing the fuel filter wont hurt and a fuel injection cleaning wont hurt if you havent had one done to it
