When i try to start my 97 mazda 626 it clicks but won't turn over and other times it starts.. What's the problem?

Are the plugs wet with fuel?
Check for spark. No spark? it may be the ignition module.

Plugs dry and spark present? No fuel?Spray a little starting fluid and see if it will run on that.
Then check pump fuses and for fuel pump noise.

Won't start or engine won't turn over and try to start?

Think about what your asking & keep in

Does the overheating issue play a role?

Is the timing belt broken?

Ah, you give many very good clues, all of which point to a problem with the fuel pump.
The cold/wet scenario - moisture getting into the contacts, possibly on/in the starter or fuel pump,
but the low fuel scenario points to the fuel pump. The fuel pump must work a little harder to pump
fuel when the level is low - it works harder to pressurize the fuel rail, and harder to supply fuel for
starting. A fuel pump that's starting to think about failing will struggle under these conditions.

Bad alternator brushes

try to boost the battery if star replace battery

replace the fuse to the ignition

tap on the gas a couple of times then try to start it.

Hello if you car doesnt want to stat all the time,then the next time it dosent hold up on the ignition switch and turn the key. If it does then you have a switch problem.This is common in the mazda 626
