VSS SENSOR COULD BE BAD.THE PCM USES SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL FOR TRANSMISSION CONTROL FUNCTION AND VSS SENSOR SIGNAL DRIVES THE SPEEDOMETER.MORE LIKELY VSS SENSOR COULD BE THE PROBLEM.

Well the 1st thing to do when it comes to those windstars is call the dealer and give them your vin code you can find this on your dash in the lower left hand conner of the windsheild, on ur title, insuarance card just in case ask them if that vechicale has any recalls outstanding if so take it in they are free to get fixed i love my fords but there mini vans just dont cut it start there

if that still gets you no where than you most likely have a bad silonoid in your transmission

Can i put a 1999 3.8 ford v6 engine from a windstar van into a 1998 windstar van

First Get both Vin Numbers
Second Take Vin Numbers to yur Local Parts Person and have them check to make sure nothing has changed in those years. Some times their are up dates , or sometimes the company made changes and then if they did changes , than no it would not work.

I have a 1998 Ford Windstar that sometimes stalls when coming to a stop and sometimes will kind of **** while driving it. I was told that it could be the MAP sensor. I was wondering where this was...

The MAP sensor is under the hood on the firewall , it has a single vacuum hose going to it , and a two wire plug.
simply unplug the wires to test it (if the van runs better w/o it pluged in , replace the sensor).
