Hi, this problem is caused by failure of the blend door actuator or structural failure of the door itself. First, access the actuator as instructed below. Have someone turn the key on and change the temperature setting while you watch the actuator. If the actuator turns, odds are the door hinge has failed. In this case, the heater box must be removed from the truck and split open to repair the door.

If the actuator does not move, it may have failed. Remove the actuator and check it for stripped gears or plug it back in and see if it will turn at all when the temperature control is changed. You might also want to check for voltage at the connector before buying a new actuator. A new actuator is about $40.
WARNING
Do not handle the passenger air bag module by grabbing the edges of the deployment doors.
