The key to your issue is the Check Engine Light. A Scan Tool will tell you EXACTLY what the trouble it. I will give a DTC Error Code, with a 'P' and 4 numbers. like here

DTC P1780
Circuit Description
This DTC indicates that the engine control module (ECM) received a message from the transmission control module (TCM) to turn ON the MIL (SERVICE ENGINE SOON) telltale due to a transmission related OBD II failure. The ECM will send a message via the controller area network (CAN) link to the body control module (BCM), which will send a message over the class 2 link to the instrument panel (I/P) cluster to turn ON the MIL.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC P1780 will set if the ECM received a MIL request message from the TCM over the CAN link.
DTC P1780 is a type B DTC.
Diagnostic Aids
DTC P1780 does not indicate a fault with the CAN link circuit.
DTC P1780 does not indicate a fault with the ECM.
Diagnose any TCM related DTCs first.


You need a scan tool that can read transmission control module codes .

Daniel, According to the instructional video below, the code reader is not listed to work on your vehicle, only OBD2 compliant vehicles Domestic, Asian, European sold in United States. Before purchasing another code reader or scan tool make sure it will work and diagnose codes for your vehicle, contact the manufacturer if need be for info. Mercedes Benz DTC Fault Code List

Check the fuel filter,nozzles and clean the injector mouth

This info is from 1998 Saturn Sl , my service info doesn't go to 95 . It's the same except for code numbers , My info is P0xxx #'s . The quad driver is part of the ECM - engine computer !
Here is a description from Saturn service info .
A quad driver module (QDM) is an electronic switch which completes a ground circuit when switching ON. The QDM independently controls 4 separate outputs. A load is connected between battery voltage and the QDM allowing the QDM driver to control the output. Each QDM has fault detection logic which compares QDM driver input and output voltages. The logic expects to measure less than 3 volts when the QDM driver is ON and greater than 7 volts when OFF. The QDM has only one fault line that will detect a fault on any of the 4 outputs. The scan tool can be used to cycle the outputs ON or OFF. The scan tool can also perform an automated test which can isolate the faulty circuit.
The quad drive it self may be bad , GM had a problem with these !
Did you check fuse's ?
Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC P01650 and/or P1651 will set if:

Important: The QDM circuit is continuously checked when the engine is running.

so gue$$ stinks sure.... why do that.?
all it takes is a scan tool to find this.

first you need to learn ASD relay rules.
to start a jeep 1993 to NOW.
the ASD most close, cranking,does it?
and most stay closed cranking and NOT drop out in 3 seconds.
that means crank for 5 seconds and if the ASD drops. at 3.?
easy huh?
if it did DROP i can tell you the ECU will set DTC errors you failed to see because you did not scan it during those 5 seconds.

first is fuses.
lets make a list. works on all jeeps 93+

1. battery changed. to 12.6vdc reseted.
2. keyon, CEL lamp glows, if not fuse blown to PCM (ECU)
3. engine cranks fast.
4. Asd realy pulls in and holds.
5. scan tool shows, what? BINGO. DTC errors, easy huh?
6. ok no DTC, errors, live for 5 seconds, cranking,so lost spark? must be bad coil or wired wrong. (change it 1 wire at a time?ooops)
7. coil dead, its not DTC caused, so if no DTC that means the PCM did not see Coil ignitor errors. to coil see? i bet its got TDC;s if not then i check the coil inputs. to be sure the PCM ignitor is firing the coil correctly with my scope, oops no scope.
8. if no scope you get to buy a new PCM. Wild guessing bad ignitor.
9. i use a Innova 3140 scan too that does 93-95 jeeps, for about $150 only about 1.5 hrs shop labor value. and is Investment grade tool, it would have saved you 3 parts, guessed already.

If the crank sensor solved the problem before it may have gone bad already , I would start with that. Fuel pressure on a 95 grand needs to be 37 to 41 psi. Check to make sure you have adequate pressure . You may also want to test your Idle air control valve and Throttle position sensor to insure proper operation.

9 - Crank Angle Sensor (CYP) - Open Or Shorted Signal Circuit

Start with the simple and replace your fuel filter, air filter and clean your MAF sensor. You can buy and MAF sensor cleaner at Auto Zone and the fuel filter also. While your there Auto Zone can scan your Saturn for any DTC codes that my be causing your engine performance issues, Auto Zone scan free of charge and if there is any DTC codes. They can give you the information to what needs to be done to get your Saturn running 100% again soon.

codes are for fuel system lean bank 1 and 2. low fuel pressure or innacurate mass air flow sensor could cause this. most common is mass air flow sensor.
