Unfortunately the rear headrests or head restraint gets in the way and ... So as a temporary measure, I'm wondering if it's possible to actually remove the car's rear head restraints? ... there should be a button on the base of the posts that support the headrests (where the posts meet the rest of the seat.) that should allow you to pull the headrests out.

Same proceedure as front headrests but tilt the back of the seats forward about halfway. Push the little clip in on top of the seat, by the chrome rail, pull the headrest up and slide out of the hole. Push the back of the seat back, lift up the bottom seat and tilt forward. Lay the back seats down. Done.

hold the release button in while pulling the head rest up,

there should be a sliding button just where the pole of the headrest goes into the seat, just push this , and the headrest should come out

When you lift the headrest to the up position on the plastic sleves at the bottom of the metal rods for the headrest you should find a small hole on one side.Take a small pin or nail and push in the hole and lift up that will release the headrest

Look at the base of the headrest there is a small button which looks as if it is part of the moulding.

Pulls the headrest up as far as it will go then depress that button rock the headrest side to side as you press and it will come out

There is a plastic cover, about 1 1/8" diameter, on the base of the post on each side. You can remove it with a screw driver by carefully prising upwards at the edge. They just clip down.
Once these are lifted away from the seat, you will see the wire clip that locks the headrest into the seat. Remove the clip on each post, and you can then remove the headrest.
Reassembly is the reverse.

Most times there is a button on the side of the base where the headrest rests.

Should be black, look at it to see the release button.

press and keep holding the release button between top of seat and the headrest and pull the headrest all the way up
