Possible bad alternator?

change alternator and maybe battery. Since the battery is pretty new, draining it like you say only took a year or two off its lifespan. Remember how your car acted this time, as most newer cars do the same exact thing when the charging system or battery needs service. In the future, you will recognize the symptom and know where to look before you get stranded.

At this point maybe both. The battery light comes on when the alternator is not supplying enough power to operate the vehicle, and the battery is being forced to provide the difference. This problem, if not serviced, will quickly drain the battery. Replacement of the alternator is most likely needed. Be advised that alternator manufacturer/re-builder will not warrant an alternator that is installed on a car with a dead battery. So have you battery checked out; if it is good get it charged first. If it's bad replace it along with the alternator and you should have no problems.

check all battery connections are good and clean and tight if they are and that is not the problem. Try jumping battery with cables if it starts it will usually be a bad battery or alternator or starter moter,.check voltage at battery should be 13 volts or better. If less charge battery load test battery or take it to auto parts store and have it load tested. if battery is good check voltage with car running it should be between 13.5 and 15 if lower or higher voltage check belt on alternator (if lower voltage). If voltage is high or low and belt is ok remove alternator and have tested at any parts store .It is usually free. Most likely the battery isn't charging properly. If you haven't ever replaced the battery it's probably about 8 or so years old. In battery years that's means it's time to have a wake for the old one and get a replacement.

You can go to one of the auto parts store (Autozone, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Advance Auto Parts, NAPA etc.) and they can check the charging system for you for free. They will also be able to tell you if the battery really is bad or the problem lies somewhere else like the alternator, connections, a short or something along those lines. This could also save you some coins since you won't be spending money on something you are guessing about. Good luck.

You may have a problem with your alternator or the wiring may be loose or broken. check your battery for bad cells and not holding it's charge.

Sounds like the alternator is not putting out the correct charge...this will cause the engine to stall, and may not be keeping the battery fully charged. You can have the alternator tested at many auto parts stores for free, including Auto Zone...replacing the battery will not solve your problem. Hope this helps.

Either bad alternator (should be under warranty) or bad battery. Alternator and battery should be checked (free service at most national chain parts stores) for dead cells or the water level may be low. I hope this helps you out.

CHECK FOR LOOSE OR SLIPPING BELT DUE TO DEFECTIVE BELT TENSIONER.CHECK ALTERNATOR WIRES FOR LOOSENESS OR DAMAGE.CHECK FUSE MAKE SURE ITS IN TIGHT.IF ALL IS GOOD HAVE ALTERNATOR CHECKED SOUND LIKE VOLTAGE REGULATOR GOING OUT.
