It almost has to be a drain problem. The HVAC box is supposed to be a sealed unit and any moisture inside is supposed to drain onto the ground under the car. If you had wet carpets you could have excessive moisture inside the passenger compartment, but the ac unit should still pull the moisture out of the air and drain it onto the ground. Is it possible the box is not sealed and the excessive water is leaking into the compartment before it gets to the drain tube ?
Open the hood, remove 2 plastic pins & cover just below the windshield on passenger side. There should be a preformed long rubber gasket that diverts any water away from the cabin filter (regularly replaced) found underneath in the compartment & sometimes the rubber becomes dislodged when changing the cabin filter.
Remove side clips holding the glove compartment into the console and unhook the elastic string that guides the compartment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Super VAG K+CAN V4.8
If the lights are switched then the switch controls a rely all lights are switched on bmw. Can use fog lights temporarily. Find rely test with continuity meter when on, disconnect lights first, then turn on lights switch, check for 12v at light bulb terms, if 12v then bulbs bad, if not relay is bad, test with continuity meter, rely should read 0 ohms when lights switched on, infinite open circuit when switched off. If lights work in manual switch pos then solar sensor bad.
Check the fuses first. If they are all right,it might be the resistor that is usually somewhere behind the glove compartment area. If it's one of those automatic temperature con trolled heaters, it might be a circuit board problem, and they are fairly expensive.don-ohio
You may have short or a wire touching; a light that is staying on that you don't see, such as in the glove compartment, visor mirror lights, etc. Battery may need water, or it's just run out of juice. Check for date stickers on the top of the battery for a date when it was purchased. If there is no date sticker, it is probably the original from the factory, and needs replaced. Check the trunk lites, or back lites also. Their wiring can sometimes wiggle loose and touch metal or rub a hole in them which can cause a drain to battery.
This is one of those topics that I have seen both ways.
1. The 2004 was the only MY to include an airfilter. 2. The late build 2004 to 2008 could have a dealer installed cabin air filter kit installed.
So don't be shocked if you go fishing for it, and it is not there. On to the directions :
Open the passenger-side glove compartment box. Remove all of the items currently stored in the glove box
Notice two screws on the inside ceiling of the glove box securing the glove box to the dashboard. Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove these screws. The glove box will now be loose. Wiggle the box off the dashboard and allow it to hang.
Locate the rectangular plastic housing; this is where the cabin air filter is stored. Remove the housing cover by pulling it out of place. Remove the dirty cabin air filter by sliding it out of the clips securing it in place. Discard the dirty filter.
Slide the replacement cabin air filter into the retainer clips. Push the filter housing cover back into place until you hear it lock. Place the glove compartment back into place. Replace the two screws that secure the glove box in place and tighten with the screwdriver. Place the items back into the glove box and close the box.
