I ran into the same problem ..... the fix was make sure selector was all the way in park. If it didn't lock in park (it showed in park but didn't lock) I couldn't take the key out but I could turn the vehicle all the way off.

There is a little button in front of the shifter. I pushed on this while moving the shifter back and forth. It immediately went down and I was able to put he car in park and then pulled out the key.

Your car uses a transonder key, a key with a small chip embedded inside. The transponder is matched to the immobilizer unit in your car. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the immobilizer searches for that transponder, if it's not near the ignition, the car will just keep turning over and not start. Your only real options are to replace the steering lock or buy a transponder bypass unit, which I do not recommend. Just do a google search.
