Tip & How-To about 1994 Chevrolet Suburban
I can't tell you how many times I've had the kid at the parts store and even trained mechanics tell me that the latch on my hood is out of alignment when they have trouble opening my hood.
For the longest time, I didn't know what the problem was... turns out, it's not a problem, it's just how the thing is designed. Here's how to easily open the hood every time...
Pull the handle inside the cab of your Suburban (near the driver's door) all the way, until you hear the lock under your hood "pop" open. Your hood will open very slightly and there will be a little gap, just about big enough for your hand.
Go stand in front of the Suburban, right in the center, and reach inside that little gap. Feel around up towards the hood until you feel a smooth handle that you can push up on. It's about 2 inches wide or so.
Now, using your other hand, push down on the outside of your hood very lightly while you push up on that smooth handle. When you've lowered the hood just enough, you'll be able to push up on that handle and it will release the latch completely.
Voila!
