What causes engine vibration in 3rd and 4th gears?

When synchros go bad they will NOT cause a vibration. They will make a kerchunk noise when you try to shift to that gear. I know. I rebuilt my transmission (Type: W59) because of bad synchros in 2nd gear. I would look for bad U-Joints, or a bad carrier bearing. This could also happen if you went to a tire size larger than 31x10.5. The 2.7L 3RZ doesn't produce enough HP to run 33's. It will bog down on a hill in 3rd. You could also have some bad half-shafts up front. If you keep the hubs locked they may be dragging you down. Are your tires chopped?

1998 toytoa miss fireing on # 2 cylinder

White smoke is caused by 2 things. First water, second anti-freeze. One of these are mixing in cylinder 2. First check your radiator levels and see if it is slowly draining. Get an oil change. If it looks like a milk shake then you have anti-freeze mixing with your oil which would point toward a head gasket. Second, check for excess water. Make sure your plugs are tight and boots are seated fully. Check the plug in cylinder 2 and see how it is burning. White(Too Hot), black(Too Rich), just right... Lastly, check your exhaust manifold for cracks. The 98 tacomas have a cast manifold that WILL crack eventually. Mine cracked at 180K. You may just have water entering through the manifold near cylinder 2. You will have to remove the heat shield to get a proper look.

1998 toyota tacoma headlight buzzer not working, how do I fix?

The problem lies in the door frame then. You will need to remove the push button in the door frame and check if it is grounded. You should have noticed that your dome light also stopped working. This is because it doesn't know when the driver door has been opened. Therefore, no alert that you left your headlights on, and no dome light. Check wiring.

My Toyota Tacoma 98 is making an odd pumping

Does your vehicle have an electric fuel pump? If it does, check to see if the filter is clogged. Also, you can remove the "out" side hose, turn on the ignition to check if it pumps fuel.

How hard is it to change the evapotor core on a 1998 toyota tamoca

It is rather easy if you have a little mechanical knowledge. Please have a professional evacuate the system of all refrigerant before attempting to open the a/c system. Not only is it illegal but very dangerous to you and the environment. it's located basically behind/underneath your glove box. Remove electrical leads from evaporator. Remove glove box and lower trim panel. There should be three screws and a bolt attaching the the evap core. Remove those and then remove evap. Reverse process to install. Again. Please have a professional recharge the system. First, they will pull a vacuum on the system to ensure there are no leaks, as well as ensure the system is charged properly and to the correct pressure and have the proper oil added to the refrigerant. You can also have them put a dye in the system so that if a leak arises it will easier to locate the area of the leak. Hope this helps!
