84 toyota. altenator not charging
The diagram shows a capacitor between the regulator red wire and ground on some models. If your truck has that cap, you may want to check it or replace it. I don't see anything else on the diagram that could cause this behavior, unless there is a bad connection somewhere. If that red wire powers the field winding, a bad cap could be pulling down the voltage.

The brake switch is usually like the switch in your trucks
doorframe that turns your dome light off. You can push in on the switch with
the door open to get a feel for how it works. Push it in and your dome light
turns off. The same thing happens with your brake light switch. When you push
on your brake peddle it is the same as your truck door being opened. When the
brake peddle, is in its home position as in no pressure on the peddle pad, the
arm of the brake peddle pushes the button in which, breaks the circuit to the
brake lights.
The switch could be bad. It is easy to spot the switch look
at the arm of the brake peddle and see if you can see a bracket that holds the
switch against the brake peddle arm. Use a flashlight.
You might be able to tell if the switch is bad by only
removing one of the wires and see if your brake light goes out. If your brake
lights go out with one wire removed, the switch most likely is bad.
I have also seen where a driver caught there shoe string or
shoe on or under side of the peddle and when they pull there foot up they bend the
bracket that holds the brake light switch. By bending the bracket they move the
switch away from the peddle arm and the switch no longer gets pushed in enough
to break the circuit.
A bent bracket can be an easy fix just bend the bracket back
to its original position. Please be very careful the bracket can be sharp. In
addition, the bracket can crack, to help prevent this let your truck heat up
inside if the A/C has been on etc.
You can take all of the wires off the switch and remove it.
Take the switch to your local auto parts store they should have one and will be
glad to test your existing one.
If there are more then two wires draw your self a diagram,
tag the wires with masking tape, and number them. Please be aware that you
could blow a fuse if you touch the wire ends to any metal parts of your truck.
If you do not already
have fuses in your glove box, you should pick up some while you are at the auto
parts store. Please put the fuses in your glove box. I run into many people who
say yes I have fuses, at home in there garage! I do not know about everyone
else but my truck never breaks down in my garage. I think it is scared of all
the tools around it. LOL.
I hope this helps.
Take care and stay safe
Thank you

Turn signals not blinking
They don't work off the same unit. First check the fuse, then the turn signal unit . If that is ok the problem may be the signal switch.
