could be the drive gear inside the gearbox, it may just be worn and need replacing. cheers!
Engine Transmission Light coming on intermittently
low pressure in the tranny, did you check the oil level in park? if so you might have to check it in gear with someone holding it on the brakes, then re-check... hopefully it isn;t the pressure solenoid.... $$$$$$.... they can be expensive, cheers!
Oil leak
Pull the distributor out & examine the o-ring that is at the base of the dist where it slides into the cyl head. If the o-ring is compromised, oil will leak there.
Serging Idel
It's a common problem called 'hunting'. It rev's on it's own yes ?
You will have air in the coolant system, it's quite a long process to bleed properly and you must get it right. My advise is have a look on my club www.imoc.co.uk, we have a mk1 section and some fantastic how to's. All your problem's will be covered. check your expansion tank cap for sign's of cracking as well. Mine has just gone on me and has caused the hunting as it allow's air to be sucked into the coolant causing bubble's to pass the temp sensor and give the ECU a false reading wich adjust's the fuel injected.
We are a very freindly bunch with a lot of experience and will be able to help you.
Headlights
Could be a Fuse or relay
have you checked the fuses?
My radiator fans won't come on
Most likely the fan itself or the fuse or the fan relay, or the fan switch located close to the bottom of the radiator.
I would start by jumpering the fan relay. that will confirm the fuse and fan are good.
My Toyota Mark X 2006
Its possible that you need to visit some autoshop with scanner or reader codes, they can read the trouble code that was set when the P/S warning was on
just by hooking up their scantool, maybe they'd do that for you without
having to leave it and they'd know whether there is a bigger problem and
schedule it for service at a more convenient time.
Additionally, check fluid level and test pressure from steering pump.
