Engine trouble with my 1983 toyota pickup

Toyota engines have a built in TSTV- thermo controlled vacuum system where vacuum is applied to the choke system in various levels as according to the temp. of the engine. If the TSTV is faulty or if the vacuum pipes are incorrectly placed then you have a choke which is not opening up properly. Fuel is thus not burnt completely and due to the incomplete combustion there is a formation of soot on your exhaust. Try to get the choke to open up in relation to the temp of the engine. The fuel/air ratio alse needs to be checked ( idle mixture control) once you have the vacuum system working properly.

1983 toyota pickup truck runs rough when the motor warms up

It would appear that the Black smoke is unburnt fuel, meaning Spark or timing could also be out. Check you plug and point gaps. If you rebuilt the carby, float level is crucial also check the needle and set to ensure it is shutting off the fuel, if it is not shutting off, it will just flood the engine. Not sure what carby you have but I woud pull out the jets/power valve and replace them. Some carbys have a small ball bearing to control fuel, if that was lost that could be it. Pull up an exploded diagram of the carby and do it again. I know its time consuming, but it will be peace of mind. Good luck

83 toyota pickup s10 auto,

There are many things that can cause the tranny to not shift properly and Vacume is one of them.

The ECM
tranny sensors
low on fluid
tranny filter
dirty/used tranny fliud
loose linkage
worn transmission bands
valve body malfunction on the tranny
speed sensor

here are 90% of them. You just need to start with the basics first like tranny fluid and fliter. drop the pan and see whats there. If you have metal shavings its the bands or gears. while you have it apart remove the valve body and put a rebuild kit on it. If the valve body id gunked or leaking you can have much of the same issues.

How do you install a DISC BRAKE HARDWARE KIT in

remove all connection bolts , clips. I then slowly pry the brakes as far from the rotor as posible ( depressing the brake cylinder) with tire tool or large screw driver, so the new thicker pads will go in with ease. Replace new pads acording to toyota and replace bolts/ clips. this method requires no bleeding of brakes.
