in the USA, why not say so, ??? in 1998 the USA car has (88 to now) the working CEL lamp it glows running engine, if there is STORED DTCS. but a good mech ,never fails to scan the car. as the CEL DOES not glow for all FAILS> also any 1998 that misfire very bad, flashes the CEL for a warning that the CAT is burning up (raw fuel and lots of oxygen) so ever tune it up this decade or last 60k like the books shows?

the CEL, right, and the operator guide tells you what to do with that. blinking means RAW FUEL is roasting the CAT to death. some opr. guilds, even say disconnect the trailer and get service. and to slow down. and to avoid hills..... all very funny to me.. in truth, scan it. in USA we have $9 scan tools we connect it and magic words roll out called DTCs. like the SPOOK VULCAN MIND MELD. the codes are a great AID to diagnosis all cars, 1988 to now.

ever do a tune up ever, last decade or in last 60k miles?, BINGO? check engine lamp, scan it, an post the DTCs here i bet i can guess. P0300s or near.

run fault codes to determine sensor at fault.

1. Battery. 2. Cranking speed of the starter motor. 3. Cylinder compression. 4. Fuel system. 5. Ignition system

Before switching off the engine keep the steering wheel in center position, gear in P, fully rotate the key anti clockwise, push a small button near the key slot and pull the key out.

245 will be alright on a 4 runner - 265 will be 2 slippery in the wet!!!! Good luck!!!

If its a factory alarm clos all doors. Use key to lock and unlock drivers door.

The reason that the hatch is alarmed is because if the hatch is not secured properly then the vehicle sucks exhaust gas back into the cabin which will put the driver and any one else to sleep from carbon monoxide poisoning. Have a good reason to drive with the hatch open because it will be dangerous if the alarm is disconnected.

you can have 1) ignition system problem 2) fuel system problemHowever you must RUN the scanner/computer for better diagnostic.the electronic now is very complicated. see the diagram attached.

Step1: look for windows locks on your master panel, press that see if it unlocks the rest. If not, proceed...Step 2: Try to work the passenger windows individual switches, along with master switches. Step 3: Because all 3 passenger windows fail, least likely to be motor or broken wires or no power contacts and all that, it is more likely to be your master switch.Step 4: You can unscrew any interior trim that gets in your way of getting the master switch panel out(less likely), use a very thin flat blade to pry the panel out, do it gently, and try evenly as possible, when you get it out, unplug it, look for the part number, then order new part, supply them with all your car's detail.Step 5(bonus & not recommended): Feel the clicking as you try on the passenger switches and compare them to the driver's switch, note any even slight difference, if there is no clicking then there's a chance that they don't contact. You can try take them a part and use some picks to bend the contacts together.All the other guys have given you help about how to test the circuit, mine won't be necessary.
