Engine Knocking Noise

This problem in a car this new is likely to be caused by low octane gas. if it doesnt go away after the old gas has been removed and higher octane gas put in then there could be another problem. when does it make the knocking sound? is it only while under heavy load? ie going uphill in higher gears? is it manual or auto?

Power windows right side do not work

Before assuming that the window regulatormust be replaced you should first rule out the possibility of dirtyelectrical contacts. On most cars the main power for all switches goesthrough the master switch located at the driver’s console. Sometimesthe switch is dirty causing the window to malfunction. If this is thecase, take the necessary steps to clean the contact and your problemshould be resolved.

In replacing a window regulator are usually quite similar:1. Remove the door panel for the affected window.
2.Locate and remove the bolts holding the regulator to the door; it islikely you will have to manually lower the window in order to accessthe bolts.
3. Remove the old regulator, disconnect all wiring, and replace the old regulator with a new one you have purchased from aparts supplier. Shop online to find the best value as you will pay amint if you order one through a dealership.
4. Tighten the boltsholding the new regulator and reinstall the moisture barrier. Make sureall the wires are put back in the door before closing the door panel.
5. Engage the power window switch and the new regulator should work unimpeded.
Of course, follow your car’s repair manual for specific instructions.

I have a 2005 scion ax and the speedometer gauge

I had the same problem. I replaced the instrument cluster. I went to a junk yard and bought a used instrument cluster, then sent that to a tachometer repair facility to have the mileage set correctly. Taking the trim panel off was easy, just two pins on the top hold it in place. Gently pull off the panel, it is plastic and it just snaps in and out. Then remove the three screws that hold the instrument cluster in place, disconnect the plugs and do the reverse to install the "new" instrument cluster. The used part cost me 150 (vs 400 for new) and 150 to have the odometer reset (ripoff I think, but what are you going to do?). Labor was quoted at 110, I did the whole job in about 20 minutes (not including the run-around for parts). Works perfectly now.

The (plastic? rubber?) trim strip

Actually, your idea is very close to what the car dealership would do, but not tell you that's what they did. Just make sure you wipe the area(s) clean with rubbing alcohol and do not use any type of conditioner to the pieces that will have silicone placed around\under them as, this will prevent the silicone from making a proper seal and you could lose your rubber pieces going down the road. Once you have put your silicone in and have put your rubber pieces back into their grooves, give the silicone 24 hours to set. This way, the bond is tighter and this should also fix your leaking issue. Hope this helps.

SCION XA BROKEN HEAT/ac BLOWER

It was on a different car (an old Vauxhall) but I had that problem. The resistor on the back of the dial had blown - so the only setting that still worked was the one that didn't need the resistor (i.e. the full power option). My car was probably a bit older than yours so I don't know whether things are still that simple!
