My transmission will not go into park. how do i
- Install the shift cable end of the shift cable to the transmission shift lever stud ball.
- Install the retainer to the shift cable and transmission bracket.
- Feed the shift cable through the floor panel.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjustment Procedure
- Ensure that the shift cable is not restricted.
- Place the shift lever into the NEUTRAL position.
- Position the shift cable to assume a natural routing. The shift cable must be free to move 20.0 mm (0.80 inch) axially during the adjustment under adjustment spring loads.
- Pull the cable end completely forward and release it. (When the cable is pulled completely forward and released, the adjustment spring will position the cable to its most rearward position.) Notice: Do not pull the shift lever ball stud forward of the transmission shift lever ball stud during installation. Pulling the shift cable end forward of the transmission shift lever ball stud before installing the shift cable end to the transmission shift lever ball stud will result in a poor adjustment.
- Connect the end of the shift cable to the transmission shift lever stud ball.
- Press the locking tab IN in order to secure the shift cable to the transmission bracket.

Interchangeable rear amc eagle
Rear axles on all AMC Eagles interchange with each other, regardless of year. Jeep Cherokee (compact XJ models) will interchange, but the shock mounts are different - Jeep mounts must be cut and welded, at least on one side. Make sure the axle ratio is the same as the front axle ratio, or the same as the axle you're replacing.

I need to replace the starter ona 1984amc eagle
Are you sure that you need a replacement? Starters usually fail because of warn brushes. A quick worn-brush diagnostic that works 80%, is to tap starter with a hammer. Several raps - strong but not destructive - will cause the stater to work for a limited time. Brush replacement can be accomplished by most mechanically-inclined. If you must replace it, be sure to remove the grounding strap from the battery. It is the one with the black terminal - not red.

WE have a 1984 AMC eagle with 258 six engine when
well what was told is that my1984 eagle stationwagon, that if the 4x4 does not engage it is due to vacuum lines from the motor and the trany. these lines dry out and crack and vibration causes them to crack and the tight spots there in does not let you see or fix them to easy.

WIRING DIAGRAM FOR 1984 AMC EAGLE
well you have several options you can go to a dealship and have them copy the diagram for you(i do this all the time) or you can purchase a repair manual at Napa or Oreilly's for around 20 bucks. it has diagrams and schematics in it. it also has alot of instructions in it so you can do repairs yourself. By the way i'm surprised that the mechanic doesn't have these diagrams himself. I was wandering why it won't start after you changed the plugs and wires could it be that maybe the firing order is wrong. i've done that myself a time or 2. double check the the plug wires to make sure they are in the right spot. if the problem is it won't crank. chances are you have a loose ground. please rate this..thanks

Changed Cap,rotor, plugs and wiring. Car running
look on the intake manifold its usually stamped there, or go to the library and look in a Chilton"s auto manual it'll be in there,is your timing chain still ok??? it hasn't jumped, which would mess up timing...some chains were a hard nylon gear in those years and can wear out and the chain can jump and throw timing off too

I have an 85 amc
you need to put a chevy alternator with a built in regulator on it.
You need a 3 wire alternator. Two wires go to the battery and one wire goes to anything connected to the ignition switch.
