When I crank my 96 Town car, the are at least 3 clicks before it actually turns over and cranks. is my ignition switch going bad?

No it sounds more like the starter solenoid sticking, give it a few solid tickles with a hammer to free it up.

96 Lincoln towncar raido buttons have back light but do not work also the display on raido stoped working and no sound

  1. Press and hold the OFF button for a few seconds. NOTE: On some models, this will toggle the display on and off.
  2. Check to see if your car stereo has a dimmer setting, which can disable the display. If the car audio system does have this setting, try adjusting it to the different dimmer settings. Sometimes the dimmer setting is on the left side of the steering wheel where the lights are.

My ac was working fine

There is a blender that controls the air flow to go through the heater core for heat, and the evaporator for AC. It very well could be stuck.

You maybe able to try and get it to get unstuck by running the cars AC and switching from heat to AC back and forth and see if it gets unstuck. Just turn it on full blast and go from heat to cool.

If that fails, then you may need to service it. There should be a Lever Marked VENT under the dash, usually by the Brake and other pedals on the Driver's Side. Close the VENT and that will stop the Air from coming in and leave the A/C Blowing through the outlets(Vents).

I also read this online if you have an electronic climate control. "On climate control press off and heat button and let go quickly. Then press automatic. The display will start rotating eventually displaying a code 025,125 , 024 etc. Then press defrost to stop. You may hear blend door operating atb that time. It worked for my climate control."

Both of my turn signals quit working at the same time... all the fuses are fine and the flashers still work....

There might be a flasher for "Hazard lights" and one for turn signals. Probably same part, swap them and see if turn signals start working, and hazards quit working.

Brake lights and turn signal lights

Hello, my name is Steve and the bulb for the left and right turn signal is 1157 . This has the 4-way flasher/turn signals and Brake light elements in the bulb. if you are doing this yourself, make sure you look at the guide pins on the side of the base of the bulb and line them up with the corresponding guide. If you fail to do so, the turn sigal flash will be faster than usual. Take care on how you remove the bulbs. I hope this will help you, Steve

Where is the voltage regulator on a 1996 lincoln towncar 4.6 ltre motor

The voltage regulator should be inside the Alternator. At one time your could get a new regulator at Kmart just like a distributor cap or a thermostat. Then the manufacturers made disassembling the Alternator more difficult either by putting a pulley that required a lot of effort to remove or by using glue to prevent separating the 2 halves of the Alternator. Eventually the part became harder to find. It is now a lot like replacing the Diodes inside the Alternator. It is possible to diagnose them, but you need to find the replacement diode and then get the alternator apart to work on it.

Why did the abs light come on?

sometimes the plug to a wheel speed sensor got unplugged or a wire go cut... usually mounted on the steering knuckle by the outer cv joints right by the hub bearing so you'll still have brakes, but not anti-lock brakes until you trace the wiring and find/repair the problem

I have a 1996 town car 4.6l that won't turn over, battery is new. Noticed that prior to the problem it would take several seconds of having key in start position before it would engage.

Sounds like a start switch on the steering column, worn ignition tumbler, if it takes a few tries holding the key in the start position
