Check engine light

There are several things that could cause this, the quickest way to find the problem is using a code reader. Under your dashboard, normally on the left side, there is a standardized connector made to plug a diagnostic reader into; it may have a plastic cover over it but the connector has a number of round pins recessed. The code reader is plugged into this and the device reads the static memory that records error messages generated by the computer using inputs from numerous sensors on your car. These are displayed on a small LCD and need to be noted so one can decode the numbers from a manual or installed software on a standard computer.
The code readers range in price from ~$30 to nearly $200 US and are available from any auto parts store or many stores on line.
If you have no urge to own one, any service shop will have them  and charge you a couple of bucks to retrieve your codes and translate them.

Excessive play in the steering column with audible click when steering both right and left

There is a shaft and then a column in the diagram for that car. The issue is most likely the u-joint on the shaft. The whole shaft comes with the joint and it is about 300 dollars for the part.

2008 hyundai accent automatic 117000 miles. check engine light came one and it started losing power to point it would not budge at all. fuel light was on too,. but even after putting gas in it, there

Sounds like a ECU problem. The main computer. Take it to a Hyundai dealership and have them check the computer. You don't say how many cylinders if the cylinders are next to each other could have engine or gasket damage

I have a1997 accent1.5 auto trans it do not want to drive when fluid get warm but rev.pulls better

Check fluid level and condition. If it smells burnt or is not a healthy red, then do change the fluid and filter. If it still does not work properly after the fluid and filter change, you will need to have the transmission looked at by a good transmission shop.

Automatic choke problem?

There isn't just one reason for this symptom. It may or may not be related to the recent head repair. Inspection of the engine compartment will be needed. I would first check to see if the engine light is on. If it is then the codes will need to be read. The codes could hold vital information to help get down to the bottom if this. If not, then look over the engine. Look for pinch, damage, pulled, or unplugged wiring and vacuum lines. your idle issue could be something simple. Maybe the mechanic accidentally put the spark-plug wires on wrong. The more tests that you run and the more information that you provide, it will help us narrow down your search. A large part of the engines functions are electronically controlled. It is possible that there is a failure within anyone of the many electrical parts. It is also possible that there is a mechanical failure. Low oil or fuel pressure, engine running cold, clogged filters, or a blockage inside the catalytic convertor, these could all be suspected and related. I guess the long and short of it is that yes, I have some ideas but no, I'm not sure which one applies to your car. Please write back with what you have checked, what you want to try, and any ideas that you have. Hopefully we can get down to the bottom of this soon. good luck.
