The inside ignition tumblers are getting stuck.
--------
The first thing
to try is. That you tap on the end of the key with a hammer with the key in.
Then try to wiggle the key in the ignition, this will free the stuck tumblers
up in the lock. Most of the time this will unstick them. But don't hit
forcefully on the key with hammer. Few minute taps on the key.
-------------
But if that is not
helping then problem is ignition switch itself. The ignition key lock cylinder
in the ignition switch needs to be replaced. -------
------------
But before doing anything, try
this. Spray wd-40 spray into the key cylinder, and then try,
make sure the shifter is completely in park.-------
Let the spray
remain there for 30 to 40 minutes. And spray good amount of lubricant
in the key lock cylinder. -----
But if that is
not helping then, the ignition lock cylinder needs to be replaced. Also inspect
the ignition switch, if its worn out inside, then it also has to be replaced.
--------
But as per present situation, it indicates stuck
up tumblers in ignition switch or faulty ignition key lock cylinder.------------
