There are literally hundreds of different cat converters on the market without counting the aftermarket versions. Best take your car to an exhaust shop and have the correct one for your car fitted . IT can be genuine or generic if one is available

p0172 could be a few issues, A poor performing O2 sensor can cause a rich condition. Also an injector sticking open can cause a rich condition. I would start with a throttle body cleaning and a top engine clean (I love Sea foam) it has the least side effects, run the injector cleaning ( IT MAY SMOKE OUT THE EXHAUST LARGE CLOUDS) dont be alarmed. This is a good thing. Wait a day or so to clear the codes, because the top engine clean may very well set a code anyways.

It is secured in all four corners by self-destructing plastic mushroom fasteners. Once you remove them, they will not go back in right. The best thing to do to replace them is go to your favorite local auto parts store and get some bolts with speed clips. Put the clips in or around the holes the mushrooms went in, put the bolts through the holes in the air dam/splashguard. Or, just don't replace it.

you have engine misfire you need check your spark plugs if they be ok. need check yours ignition coils

check vacuum hoses, pcv valve etc. it seem this is not electrical related, it is more of air exchange if my term is correct, example is the hose from engine to air filter and so on check everything cuts,kinks, rubber tend to crack at age, or when soaked in oil this sort of thing.

You could possibly have a bad heater control valve if the car has one. Another item maybe a stuck or faulty blend air door. This would be the actuator most likely. It may not be shutting off all the way to allow complete heat through. The other possibility is a partially clogged heater core.

All years are same 1992 to 2002.

saturn was never the best model of car sold! amazed it has lasted this long. sounds like a re-build (not worth it)- possibly a 're-built' replacement. labor would prob. cost more than tranny! prob. need axles & bearings replaced as well. part it out and get a newer compact ford, or toyota product!! good luck!

Get it fixed asap. This can be very dangerous. It would help a lot if you described exactly where this gas leak is.
