We have a1995 saturn wagon
most likely it is an engine miss fire when hot, the smell is the catalytic converter overheating because of the miss fire, if you fix the miss fire the smell will go away, try replacing the spark plugs and plug wires, and see if the problem dose'nt go away.....good luck

Fuel does not read on
Your gage sensor is broken. It will take some skill to get to it. I would take it to a shop and they will change it for you.

My service engine light turns on when I am driving
I would worry about the fuction of ch engine light at this point,,,what you want to know is what is wrong,,,
Goto your local autozone parts store and get the codes scanned for free and they give you a printout of what the codes mean,,,than you know what to buy and they will clear the codes if they ask if you want them to just say yes

How do you change a headlight switch on a 1995
you have to buy a new multi-function switch. someone with tools and know how has to pull the steering wheel off, replace the switch, and reattach the steering wheel without damaging or deploying the air bag.
used switches are available on eBay, however given the level of difficulty in replacing it i would use a new one. GM dealer can sniff around and find them. and if you google around long enough you can find them too.

Check for vacuum leaks in the hoses, particularly the 2 that run behind and under the intake at the firewall. Also check your pcv valve and hoses. Check your coolant temp sensor with a multimeter by putting a test lead on each pin. Specs are as follows:
- 20 degrees F 39k - 53k ohms
0 degrees F 21k - 27k ohms
60 degrees F 3.9k - 4.5k ohms
120 degrees F 1.0k - 1.1k ohms
160 degrees F 430 - 480 ohms
200 degrees F 215 - 235 ohms
You may also want to check your fuel pump relay, after time the contacts inside them become pitted causing them to stick in the on or off position until they cool.

Car will start with starting
probably a plugged fuel filter. This can be anywhere in line from the fuel tank to even under the hood in the engine compartment. If you havent changed that i would start there. Also does the pump shut off after a few seconds? If the pump is good, it will stop after the pressure in the line exceeds or meets the desired line pressure. If it keeps on running, more than likely the pump will have to be replaced.

After driving home from work,
if it is coming from up top it might be the cam cover or the seal at the front-put in enough oil to read it on the dip stick and start it up, if it is that bad it should be obvious

The fuse is most likely not your problem, remove the electrical connector on the top of the transmission and observe if there is any burnt terminals which would require the electrical plug be replaced, if that appears to be fine get a OHM meter and ohm out the 5 shift solenoids, they all should be within the same range of 4.5 cold to 6.0 ohms hot if one of them is considerably off you will have to remove the upper transmission pan and take apart the valve body to replaced the burned out solenoid, most likely if a solenoid is bad its going to be the LINE PRESSURE solenoid because that one is used the most to maintain proper transmission line pressure control, and with your transmisison shifting hard in ALL gears that sounds to me like a bad line pressure solenoid, however use an ohm meter to verify.

Break lights wont turn off
Hi!
I think before you had hit the car in front of you, You did push the brakes too hard and that might make the Brake light switch stick and the lights will stay on soon as the battery is reconnected. So check the brake light switch which should be under your brake pedal. Good luck

You did not mention how many miles are on the car but there is 2 things I would check first 1) pull a spark plug and check it if the electrode is round or the gap is much larger than the spec on the eng decal replace the plugs.and check the condition of the wire's the resistance should be 5 ohm's per foot of length
2) remove the large hose that goes from the air box to the throttle body on the intake manifold-if it is really dirty then it needs to be cleaned and the ( idle air speed motor ) will also be very dirty whick will cause a rough idle.
