Common Problems That Trigger the P052 Code
- Defective Alternator
- Defective Alternator wiring or connector(s)
- Defective B+ battery cable from Alternator to battery
- Poor Charging System ground(s)
- Defective PCM wiring/connection to Alternator
- Defective PCM
- Defective Voltage Regulator
- Large Parasitic battery drain
- Defective Battery and/or cables
Common Misdiagnoses
Check the condition of your battery cables - are they corroded/have broken wire strands? Also check where the negative battery lead attaches to the engine/bodywork.
Check all the wiring for breaks and tightness - a small earth wire can be loosened and retightened to create a better earth. Corroded power wires can struggle to supply the correct voltage - remove and clean whatever you can find.
It's unlikely to be your alternator as you say it has been checked - the voltage regulator is built into the alternator so it must be okay.
A parasitic drain can be difficult to find. Try switching off everything - radio, heater ... the next time you start the car. If you know somebody who has a voltmeter and knows how to check for a power drain .. ask them.
The link below shows a Saturn PCM (it may not be your actual model..). Check all wiring around the PCM
Where To Find The ECM Module 3 0 Litre Saturn Vue
Car won't stay running.
This may be related to the antitheft system The system is known for turning off the starter and/or injectors when it fails. Normally within 5 seconds of starting. Is there a light on the dash that says SECURITY, or one light the photo? This is a common problem worth looking into. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/
I have 2003 saturn vue the clutch got hot and quit working. the starter went also at the same time
Dear Greg,
I think I have the answer for you.
There is one common part to the clutch and the starter, both work the flywheel. ( This part may go by another name.)
The flywheel is between the engine and the transmission.
The flywheel has a ring gear on the outside edge that the starter engages when it is activated, and the clutch disc rubs against the same part on the rear, or should I say on the transmission side of the engine/transmission assembly.
Repairing all this will require the removal of the engine.
However, please be prepared that the cost to fix this may be astronomical, since the problem as to why the clutch got hot might be a problem with the engine, the transmission, or both.
God bless your efforts.

How many oxygen sensors are in a 2003 Saturn vue v6
2 x oxygen sensors --one after each cat converter
there are also 2 x heated oxygen sensors ( different operation and reporting system) that are before the cat converters or in the exhaust manifolds run the fault codes to find the faulty sensor and it probably isn't either o2 or ho2 sensors
