Have a2004 Kia Sedona with p0431 code. What is it and is it costly to repair

I'm not a tech but the code states: Warm up catalyst efficiency below threshold. This is dealing with the catalytic converter. Yes these type of repairs can be costly, but worth it to get quite a few more years out of your van.

Replace alternator belt

If this is like mine it's a pig of a job, you need a lot of time and patience, as the alternator is at the back of the engine and you have to remove all the plastic shroud that covers all your other pulleys and timing belts, you will find that it's very difficult to get the shrouds of let alone getting to them as there is no clearance you will have to remove the engine mounting under the gear box to tilt the engine even then it still difficult. I've done all my time belts ect. and would advise you to take it to a garage and let them do it yes it will cost you but well worth it, believe me it's a job and a half. Good luck you will need it.

Have a 2004 KIA sedona blows warm air but not hot squeese the lower raidator hose and heat gets better for short time then goes back to just warm air what could problem be

As you have tried topping up, I would suggest WHEN the engine is cold you open the water cap that is on the engine block near the back left hand side, DO NOT OPEN WHEN HOT (it probably says that on the cap) try filling the system here, because this is a place where the system can airlock which could be your problem, it might take a bit to fill it because it will go down if your pipes are empty, (you cant circulate air with a water pump) squeeze the pipes at the same time, this needs to be full to the top, while you have this open you can start the engine and watch to see if there is any circulation, top up again if needed, watch your header bottle level. if the water is circulating then it should heat up ok. When full put the cap back on quickly and make sure you have water in your header bottle. if it doesn't heat up after this, then it is quite possibly your water pump, although if the engine is not overheating then I doubt that it is this. Other than that I would be checking for blocked heater pipes or radiator. You haven't said if you are losing water or not, but if you are then I would be checking the pipework that runs from the bulkhead all the way to the rear heater as they rot. I hope I have helped you a little.

Kia sedona battery draining

The battery may be draining due to a software issue. The dealer can reprogram the system for a known defect which allows some systems to remain powered when the vehicle is off. 20 minute warranty fix at the dealer.

hi, As you have not stated which engine you need, here is a diagram for both 2.9 d crdi and also for the 2.5. I have a 2004 kia Sedona, that starts and runs fine-but, after driving for at least a hour, car shuts off when car is stop at light or in traffic

Driving that long. Could be many things. Do have the codes read. History codes. First thoughts are, dirty throttle body and IAC motor, fuel pressure, and no air flow threw the engine. (converters)

How do i change the belts on a 2004 kia sedona van

There is a tensioner pulley for each belt, you loosen the nut on the front of the pulley, then there is a tensioner bolt that you loosen, that will move the pulley away from belt to remove the belt. You'll need to get to them from the passenger side under the car. You'll need to remove the plastic covers to get them.

My check engine light is on the code catalytic efficiency 420 port 2 how do i find

the cat convertor is contaminated with fuel. If the light will not go off (its always on) you have two choices: 1. install new cat(s) or Run premium fuel until light goes out. However before doing either you must first ensure the car's: air filter is new, the spark plugs are new and you put fuel injector cleaner in every tank of fuel. and you might want to replace the O2 sensor in the exhaust pipe. (fuel injectors foul up and cause spilling of fuel instead of spraying atomized fuel and if the spark plugs are fouled they ill not do complete burn of the fuel and therefore cause fuel to get into the cat converter. The O2 sensor can also cause the computer to adjust the timing to fire the plugs and cause similar issues)

Kia Sedona bank 2 catalyst converter

My best suggestion is to see if local wrecking yard has a catalytic converter (preferably a pair, 1 for each bank) from a newer wrecked Kia Sedona or similar vehicle. According to my manuals that cover Sephia/Spectra, the catalytic converters are connected to the exhaust system with bolts, and in some applications, springs and bolts. The Chilton/Haynes repair manual, which I was referencing, has step by step instructions in doing this repair. The best investment you can make is a Chiltons/Haynes repair manual that covers your make/model/year of vehicle. I do find it odd that the cat converter went bad on one side only, and on what would be considered a newer vehicle. I'm running the original cat converters in GM and Kia vehicles, and the newest one is 2002.

I had a taillight that would blow out every couple months or so. It appeared to be caused by moisture getting in, so I dried out the lense, ensured a good seal, and the problem magically went away!
