How do you change the transmission fluid on a 2000 Saturn LS1?
Oh, I LOVE these kinds of conversations....How much is your car worth? According to Kelly BlueBook, a 2000 Saturn with 100K miles on the clock could be worth anything from about $1700 and $2700 depending on the condition and what equipment it has (as of the date of this post). I would venture to say that the transmission can be replaced for less than that. Then , there is the "what is it worth to YOU" question. I am currently driving a car that I bought for $150 because the owner did not think it was "worth" the cost of a $2500 engine. I replaced the engine and have been driving the car completely trouble-free for over 5 years now. I have done NOTHING to it except change the oil an put gas in it during this time. (it is just now getting close to needing front brakes.)Anyway, do the math: $150 (original cost) + $2500 (engine replacement) = $2650 total car cost. Divide that by 64 (the total number of months I have been driving the car) = $41.40 / month. NOW how much was that car worth? - you SURE can't buy a new one for that!!! Where I live, that would just about make a "down payment" on a monthly bus pass!A service tech is probably the best person to ask what the car is worth. They can look at the condition of the ENTIRE car and see how much work is going to be needed to restore everything to good working condition. Have them check the engine, transmission, the steering and suspension, brakes, exhaust, computer network, all the accessories like power windows, door locks, etc., and have him give you an honest evaluation of the "big picture" before arbitrarilly making any decisions about what the car is worth. My recommendation is get the car checked out by a professional repair technician who knows his stuff. Don't mess around with the transmission yourself. You will probably only be wasting money that could be better spent for either replacing the transmission, or putting a down payment on a newer vehicle.
Saturn sc1 3 bulbs burnt out at one time after I just replaced both headlight bulb
Hi Legalass, Condensation will be caused by water or moisture entering the head light unit. If the lens is cracked or broken or the cover are not correctly fitted that will answer that part of the question. I think for the second part of the question you should take the vehicle and have the voltage regulator output checked. It is possible that the alternator is being allowed to over charge and when it does, it may be blowing the bulbs! Regards John
Exhaust Pipe broke/Rust on muffler
Flex pipe will work, or if it's a straight section of pipe you can buy a universal piece of exhaust tubing with flared ends, trim off the rusty ends on your original pipe with a hacksaw or Sawzall and slip in the new section. Clamp it with 2 muffler clamps and you're set. Total cost should be under $40.
Service engine soon
Go to any Autozone, Oreilys, or Advance autoparts and they will scan your vehicle for free. Then you do not have to worry about anything else being wrong. They can give you a Code number to write down and this Code will explain what the car needs. Then you can price the repair anywhere. Good luck with the Hospital.
