1996 SAAB 900 SE Brakelight Failure SID info
- stalls in reverse etc.

The problem lies with the grounding point in the left rear body cavity on the floor, see the diagram.
Rust eventually destorys the ground and the car will not run in reverse nor do the backup lignts or the rear hatch defroster work amongst other things
Re-attach the grounding wire to an existing welded stud on the side body panel and the problem is solved.

He is probably referring to the fluid level in the transmission - filler tube with a check rod attached to the cap is under the hood. These Japanese transmissions have many problems as they get older, so you could be looking at replacing it.

You could have bad speed sensor,ABS sensor could be bad or broken wire,I fix mine broken wire.

If the water pump was replaced, was the thermostat changed as well? If so, it could be that the system is 'settling in' and just needs to be topped off with antifreeze for the next few days. Sometimes when it's put under pressure to fill, it doesn't fill ALL the way and requires a little manual topping off.

turbo?check all the tubing for the intake,turbo and air mass meter

you will also need to check the wires coming off both o2 sensors and also sometimes the main CPU gets fried always sending those codes

Crank position sensor failing, fuel pump getting weak?

Likely has a vacuum hose leak. The hoses all die from the massive heat generated by the turbo engines. Check all the ones on the throttle for cracks.

Failing crank position sensor (CPS) is possible. If the ECU does not get a constant pulse from the CPS the fuel pump does not switch on, so no start due to no gas. if it is failing, the pump may activate intermittently.

The accessory belt idler pulley bearing is on the way out. Get it replaced. You will not be able to drive the car if it fails, since that belt drives the power steering, water pump, and the alternator.

replace the fan thermoswitches and, or, relays

unhook the battery for an hour or so to fully clear any previously bad entry attempts. hook battery back up and try the code again
