You need to get a diagnostic machine pluged in to see what faults have been logged.

Hi it is common on range rovers that the flywheel flex plate cracks or brakes up, this in turn damages the crank sensor causing the engine to stop. I have had more than one car with this same fault.
Remove and inspect crank sensor for damage10 mins job just above the sump on left side of car from underneath.

yup there bad for that all 2001 rovers they keep going bad get rid of it

does it crank? check the cable going to fuse box and the maxi fuse if no power to vehicle.

it looks like the the latch assymbly.

You probably have a problem with your BECM (Body Control Module) under the passenger front seat. This is one symptom of a possible failure here. If everything else works properly (mirros, windows) and no other trouble lights are on it will not hurt to keep driving it. Proper physcial diagnosis should be done though by a knowledgeable technician to determine the cause of the fault before replacing parts. A BECM replacement would cost around $700 if that is what it is.

do u hear the humming sound of the fuel pump inside the gas tank? (faint but audible) you will hear it when u turn the key to on (not cranking position) for about 5 seconds, if u don't hear it pull the gas tank and replace the fuel pump.

Good Luck! Try the dealer for and owners manual. If looking for and online download then you are in trouble.Land Rover keeps tight ropes on their vehicles in this aspect.

if the owner manual is in the car, look through it for the 4 digit code. Otherwise, call your local Land Rover dealer and provide them with the VIN of your truck and they will provide you the code. If the code will not punch in, hold firmly the BND button until the display says code in.

Your door lock actuator is probably faulty if it won't open with the key. You will need help on this one because the door has to be made to open in order to access the actuator. This is around a $350 repair with new actuator. It is also possible, that the lock rod has just come detached which won't require a part necessarily but the door will still have to be open to access for repair.

If you are buying the vehicle from a dealer then they should give you a guarentee on the vehicles condition.If you are buying the vehicle privately then i suggest taking the vehicle to a dealer for them to advise you on costs and repairs needed.If you are purchasing the vehicle at a good market price then it may be worth while spending a little money getting it reliable.

Most likely your switch under the dash needs replacing, or you have a short, take a light and look under your dash up the brake pedal lever and you should be able to locate it, it will be a button most probably and it will be stuck in, or shorted.

Probably a blown head gasket. Don't drive it far sounding like this as it can damage the head itself. The solution is to replace the head gaskets. In all likelyhood the heads will need skimming to restore a good sealing face. This is also a good time to check things like lifters and camshaft. Use aftermarket head bolts as the factory bolts rely on yield point to set the torque and are notorious for not holding down properly.

no year car told and worst no engine told and is an engine question. 1994 to 2001 made. 3 engines 1 is diesel,2.5 BMW any car that will not start ! the driver cranks the battery dead. so sure it can NOT start THE ENGINE now. the shop manual says in this case keep the battery charged to diagnose all fail failures, EFI,engines or all electrics resetting the BCM does not fix this. yes pulling battery neg lug for 15min and back on resets computers. there are 6 to 10 causes of a dead starter motor, and battery dead or loose rusty lugs tops the list, ever jumper cable , jump start a battery? call the AAA AUTO CLUB AND SAY JUMP ME rovor? NOW IF THE BATTERY WAS CHARGED AND WE CRANK IN PARK WE FAIL WE CRANK ALL CARS IN NEUTRAL , SEE IT DOES CRANK? turn ignition switch on position for 20 seconds then try to lock and unlock doors.if you have sun roof open sun roof fully then close sun roof fully. then switch off ignition switch then try to start.

open glove box pull guide (users) see fuse page for relay names. try cranking in N PRNDL ,no just P ? that is first but if starter is silent the relay is not. so if relay too is silent it is bad park/neutral switch is dead. scan the PCM with a scan tool,OBD2. see why it fails easy. park lock out must work first. battery charged. key on, step on brake pedal shift from pARK tro neutral and crank the engine. if Park switch was bad, Neutral is not.(joy)

Turn off the ignition with them at the rest position. It should reverse it and trick the module controlling them.
