Rained hard and next day was freezing. my air
Do you have access to a heated garage? If so put the truck in over night, it sounds like your air supply has frozen. You could also try a couple tricks that truckers use for this problem. Your air system should have a compressor and a supply tank. The tank might have a valve to bleed it, if so when you get the air system operating again drain the tank with this valve. This will clean the water out and do so on a regular basis. It should also have a way to get into it, perhaps a bolt or maybe an air line itself. Remove this and pour in some methyl hydrate ( wood alcohol). Not a lot maybe 1/4 cup at most and put it back together. The alcohol will melt the ice. If it still is giving you problems after it sits for a bit or there is no tank then remove the line from the compressor to the suspension and pour alcohol into the line. It's possible there is ice in there as well. All this water is a result of condensation and it is especially problematic when you go from wet to freezing. If you can't get methyl alcohol use gas line de-icer. Ideally though the heated garage would be the best bet. Hope this helps.
I've pulled out radio fuse (under R seat) and now
Hi,
The first thing you should do here is remove the radio from the dash and unplug it altogether from the power - leave it for half an hour then reconnect. Remember you will need your security code to reactivate it. Make sure all connections are secure when you reconnect and power up again.
This has the effect of a master reset and forces the radio to go though a self check process when it is powered up again. If the issue does not resolve after this the suspect could be anywhere in the wiring or you may have a faulty amplifier causing the problem.
Water ingress has also been known to cause problems of this nature on this vehicle so look out for any sign of this near to electrical components, connectors or wiring. Unplugging and replugging the connections may help in itself if there is residue on a connector causing a bad contact for example.
These are the basic things you can do yourself.
I fully understand your concern about the potential cost of repairing this issue, particularly if the fault is found in the amplifier. You may be able to offset this with a second hand or refurbished unit if the worst comes to the worst.
However, try this basic troubleshoot first and let me know how you get on.
Thanks for using FixYa. If you find the issue to be resolved please leave a vote for the solution.

My 2001 discovery landrover, only has about 90K
You need an error code reader
There pretty cheap to buy and always good to have
it will let you know what engine says is wrong
as check engine light is on that means a error code or more than one has been stored ready for you to look at or a garage to look at
My 51 plate freelander 1800 petrol seems to lack
Download this link and find your Service manual for your vehicle. It will serve you well and to keep for future reference

2001 Range Rover HSE 4.6 nightmare
One code which is not retained by ECU memory is the Gear Lever Inhibitor Switch. So it could be that.
The switch which disallows the vehicle to start whilst you are in drive or any other gear. Next time it does it switch the ignition to off put the gear lever in Neutral and start the engine. If it starts up straight away then its likely just the inhibitor switch which is easy to fix:
Sometimes this can be fixed by simply giving the gear lever a good workout through all position (especially from P to R) with the ignition off.
A very quick, albeit crude, way to check if this is the problem is to put your car in D with the engine off. Then try and start it and see if the same error code comes up. Dont worry your vehicle will not start and you wont break anything by doing this. Naturally keep the foot brake on full whilst doing this.
Hope this is it.
I HAVE A 2001 RANGE ROVER HSE THAT IS OVERHEATING.
Most vehicle Mfg.'s do not want you to access the radiator, so they put in overflow tanks.
You can add coolant there. You will find it under the hood next to the interior fender.
Only check or add coolant when the engine is cool.
I would start looking for a coolant leak. Vehicles are not supposed to leak or lose their coolant.
Check for green coolant spots on the ground where you park your vehicle.
Please let me know what you find.

Windscreen wipers have a high pitch squeek
Try to run the wiper motor with the wiper arms removed and thnnotice if it is still squeeking. If it is thn you will have to lubricate the wiper shafts especially where the wiper arm fits.
Hope this helps!
I have a land Rover bottle jack that will not lift
Hi:
There are only a couple things to check on your bottle jack. If you have made sure the valve is completely closed, and there is no visible leakage, then the jack will need taken in for repair. There are shops in my area that service jacks and lifts, and can put new seals in the cylinder. If you did see signs of leakage, there is usually a small rubber plug that you can add more oil thru.
How does the cruise control work on a 2001
It's the button to the right of the air suspension lift button located in the middle console up high. I leave mine on all the time. Press it once it lights up and your good to go the use the buttons on the bottom of the steering wheel. Good Luck!
