2003 Kia Sorento - Page 5 Questions & Answers
Just replaced ac compressor and still not working. replaced a relay also. What would keep itfrom coming on?
Could have a faulty low pressure switch.
The low pressure switch is located on the air conditioning line in the right rear of the engine compartment near the firewall.
The low-pressure switch in your air conditioning system is used to interrupt power to the compressor when the low side pressure drops below 25 psi. This prevents freeze-up of the system and possible damage to the compressor. When the switch is faulty, the symptoms of freeze-up, or no compressor function, will be present. Replacement is straightforward, but requires the removal of refrigerant from the system.

If the relay clicks, you're not getting power to the field coil on the
compressor and I doubt it the control circuity is the problem. We've
replaced compressors on Sedonas and Sorentos for this same problem. Uunplug the compressor field coil and hook a test light between the field
coil power wire and ground and have the a/c button on. If there's power
there, then you have a bad field coil. You can buy the field coil
separate from the compressor but you'll want to buy 2 new snap rings.
one snap ring holds the pulley on and one snap ring holds the field coil
on. I don't recommend messing with taking any part of the compressor
apart unless you're experienced with a/c systems and have the proper
equipment to recover the system. the pressure in and a/c system isn't
anything to play with.
One other thing, have you checked the compressor fuse (thermistor)? I can think of checking before giving up is the thermistor. I know the
connection is behind the glove box somewhere but I'm not sure where.
Hope this helps.
How to check if oil pump is bad on 03 kia sorento
Hi Rodney. Can you tell me what makes you think the oil pump might be faulty. Is your motor noisy at idle ? How often is the car serviced ? Do you know what grade of oil has been used ? Do you have a "check engine" light on the dash ?
If you can fill me in with a few more details I'll be more than happy to help you :)
Cheers Peter Smith
03 kia sorento Engine knocking after replacing water pump oil pump and timing belt
Who did the work? take it back. If it's DIY double check your work. Knoking as in metalic engine , or knocking as in gas preignition. If gas preignition, timing belt is off a few notches. If it's similar to this google: 2003 kia sorento interference engine
You may have valve timing off so much that your pistons are running into the valves. Bad news!
