Hi,
Jaguar S Type, March 2000, 94000 miles, started showing warning sign "gearbox fault" intermittently. No noise and running smooth but somtimes erratic gear changes. Jaguar dealer diagnosis shows code P0795. Told I need a new gearbox £3500, but car only worth £3000. Is there anything I can do?
My father has exactly the same problem with his Jag. It's a 2000 S-type 3.0. Everything feels ok but it shocks a bit between the second and third gear. He's still in doubt what to do.

reset warning light on a2000 jaguar s-type
you can reset the engine warning light by taking the earth lead off the battery and connecting it to the positive lead, then switch on the ignition,. Reconnect the earth lead to the battery and the light will have been reset. What you are doing is discharging the diagnostic chip to earth, which is exactly what the jaguar main dealer equipment does. This works on all cars.
PLEASE NOTE, make sure you disconnect the earth lead from the battery .

where is Engine ECU located in Jaguar S Type? Please! The Engine starts, but cut off . Engine not running! What could be the cause?
Hi there:
The PCM (also called ECU or ECM) is located under the pollen filter housing in the passenger corner of the engine compartment.
I suggest scanned the PCM in order to know fault codes stored there.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.
Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

how to put freon in jaguar s-type
The compressor is located underneath the drivers area towards the front. Right beneath the compressor is the low pressure port and there's where you put your freon. You have to raise the car.. follow your owners manual for jacking... you should also use a hard jack for support since you will go a little underneath the front of the car... use alight. I recommend you get the freon 134 kit that has a pressure gage so the you can see if the freon pressure ( pressure high full or a problem with system ) or low and needs charging

I have one working key fob but I have purchased another key fob.How do I programe new key fob?
Is the frequency 433.96mhz.
Seperate key fobs only can be programmed in the following way.
Turn ignition on/off 8 x times (allow all functions to stabilise) after the 9th on - press a button on both remote fobs. then turn ign. off. use good remote to lock and then try new remote to unlock/lock. sometimes it works first time - sometimes you have to repeat actions. good luck.

I have a 2000 jaguar s-type Climate control does not work correctley, When set at 66 heater is on full blast ( real Hot) Change it to low and the a/c comes on. Replaced the controler and it did not make a difference. The heater valve has been replaced. What next ?
Jaguar S-type 2000 fabrication year is equiped with:
1. Control system = Automatic temperature control
2. System layout = Single evaporator - dual zone
3. Refrigerant circuit type = Expansion valve
General information:
1. System control
1.1. Compressor operation controlled by refrigerant pressure sensor.
1.2. Compressor will not operate if refrigerant level is low!
1.3. System incorporates an A/C evaporator temperature sensor.
1.4. System incorporates an engine coolant heater regulator valve.
1.5. A/C control module incorporates self-diagnosis function.
1.6. The A/C control module fault memory can only be accessed and erased using diagnostic equipment connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC). See picture below:
1.7. Engine Control Module (ECM) incorporates A/C related trouble codes.
1.8. Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will iluminate if certain ECM faults are recorded.
1.9. The ECM fault memory can only be accessed and erased using diagnostic equipment connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
Trouble code Fault location
B1200 A/C control module - internal failure
B1251 In-car temperature sensor - open circuit
B1253 In-car temperature sensor - short to earth
B1255 Outside air temperature sensor - open circuit

My headliner is shot, JCwhitney has a replacement, but I'm not sure how to get the old one out. Anyone know where I can find removal steps?
Just got my out. So, I thought I would tell everyone how to do this. First you have to remove the coat hooks, rear lights, handles and visors. My wife did these so thaey must be easy (just kidding babe). You don't have to remove the switches and lights up front. You will have to remove the wires later anyway. Now you have to remove the trim pieces at the A,B and C pillars. All these are attached with clips behind them. Use a long screwdriver (and cloth) to pry behind and loosen them. You will have to remove the seat belt on the B pillar. At this point you need to lay the back seats down and pop the three clips for the back speaker cover. Reach underneath and remove the wires. Slide the connectors off the clamp and unclip. This was a pain in the hands. Now the headliner is held on by a clip at the very back that I broke trying to get off. Also, there is velcro around the sunroof that you can use a long screwdriver to pry loose. At this point you unhook the wires for the front switches and it should be loose. Now comes the hard part. Bending the headliner to remove out the back door. I removed the neck support off th driver seat and moved all th way forward and up. I then really had to bend the headliner to remove. Lucky it is made out of a material the doesn't break easily. Good Luck.

I can't lift the gas cap lid. It seems locked, but I can't figure out how to unlock it so I can put gas in. It is the hatch, not the cap. I can't get the hatch open to access the gas cap. How do I unlock the hatch? I can't find the lock button or whatever....
There should be an emergency bypass cable in the trunk to open the gas door.
