yes, the J20 engine, or H25 H27?
each has different tension-er methods.
the car is metric, there are no SAE parts on car. (no 1/2" parts)
why post engine questions, with out stating the engine.??
so ill guess J20?
how to adjust part 10? (twin cam 2.0L) I4
page 18: seen here.
http://www.fixkick.com/engine/20Liter/html/image_18.html
this is a spring type tensioner, #10 ID
seen here, clearly (has 2 mount points (fixed)
so is preset tension, ending all speculation on this. see last photo below.
-------------------------< v6>------------------------------------------------------
or the V6 ,
so happens I own one too,
and guess what, there is No tensioner like poster stated. above.
NADA..
I have the FSM for car, Page 1F-15, see that photo in the FSM
the Alternator telt adjust the tension. same as the G16 engines
if you need the real FSM page., ask for it,
or read it here.
costs only $4 bucks to read it, and down load it you can
https://suzukipitstopplus.com/Products/1194-2002-vitara-grand-vitara-service-manual.aspx
next time you have a question, you can look first.
then ask.
tension spec, is 10mm deflection at 22lbs force to belt. mid span.
7-11mm is range.
all answer USA cars, on this USA forum.
the 2.5L has 2 belts.
one has and idler. the other is alt tensioned.
the fsm cover belt 1, in cooling (alternator telt)
the FSM cover belt 2 under, P/S steering pump
and is not a spring loaded tensioner as poster guess.
its manual idler pulley with 2 slot base and 2 bolts
and needs a 12mm box end or socket to set.
and is set to same spec (tension) as the other belt, (22lbs)
if you need FSM pages, or real photos off my car, I have it
not bs.
Below is 2.0L fan belt side tension device
if you look close, see that spring there> at 7pm?
