1999 sable drives fine but occasionally after

Sounds like an electrical problem, not a mechanical problem, with the transmission. Take it to a transmission shop for diagnosis. Cost to repair should be considerably less than rebuilding the transmission.

Catalytic converter

At best you can look up "bypass pipes" for replacing the missing catalytic converter. Depending on what you are driving this is not a procedure I would advise. Later model cars have dependency on the O2 sensors to adjust the engine at all times. You will get a defect error light AND THE ENGINE MAY KEEP STALLING OR RUN TERRIBLE. Check out sites Ecatalyticconverter.com and Discountcatalyticconverter.com for several brands which are marked down in price.Simply said, some engines can be Retro-fitted to earlier designs that did not depend on electronics. The newer cars use the O2 readings before and after the catalytic to set transmission and engine performance.

Power Steering Pump

When you say cracked -what part is failing? if it is the sides of the pulley there may be misalignment of the 2 pulleys-- it may be an incorrect size drive belt ( too wide for the groove) If the hub is cracking it may be too loose and the nut is not tight enough It may be a poor design pulley that is not up to the job which means you will need to source a much better pulley to over come the problem. If it is a serpentine belt check for alignment.

Drops idle, dies

Sounds like a vacuum problem that goes to the distributor. Check the line and make sure it is hooked up would be the first thing I would check for.

Why doesnt my reverse lights work on my 1999 mercursy sable ls

check the transmission reverse sensor. The vehicle speed sensor is located on the rear, left hand side of the engine as you stand in front of the car looking at the motor. When you look at the back of the engine , under the exhaust manifold , there is a small heat shield that you can pull off [it is spring clipped on the back, so you can pull it off without damaging it] and there it is.

Why do you need to run a Wire? If you run a HOT wire to your Pump, then you will have a constant drain on your Battery. Will Continue to run and cause a fire in an accident. If you can tell me what you are trying to do, I will help you do it correctly and SAFELY
