2001 Subaru Outback - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My 2001 outback has manual transmission. Original
Not fitting is the issue, not the Cold Cranking Amps. You want the most CCA you can get in the size that fits. What CCA means is you have more power to crank the car longer before the battery dies.New batteries need to be charged (the parts store should make sure of that) before installation or else you could/maybe/possibly overload the alternator. Once the battery is fully charged it makes no difference to the alternator because you are still using the same amount of power but from a larger battery capacity. That being said if someone installed a 550CCA battery (that fit) into your car instead of the 420CCA and didn't tell you, you would never know it. The 550CCA is just a heavier dutier battery.

Help me figure out if it's the Alternator or thermostat please?
My best guess is that you have a broken wire or short in the power to your instruments. This is the only thing that would affect so many different components in the same area, dashboard.
The main wiring for the dash come up form the fuse panel on the left side by your left foot. Maybe you will be luckiy and find a loose connection there.

2001 Subaru outback limited security light flashing rapidly!!?
Reset the system by removing both battery terminals
Hold the positive and negative together for 30 seconds
The. Reinstall both terminals
The system will re learn for the next 10 miles or so
If it happens again to the light
We will have to try another approach
Best of luck

Why is my heater not working in my 2001 subaru outback?
Emmit. I assume it blows air, just not hot? If that's the case, the control valve is faulty or probably unhooked. It will be in the heater hoses visable under the hood. Look for an unhooked cable (if its cable type..very visable) or unhooked or damaged vacumn line. Good luck.

Code p0340, p0462 on subaru outback 2001
Po340 is a cam shaft sensor and po462 is low voltage on your fuel guage. So i assume you are haveing fuel level issues. If you can turn wrenches you can do these repairs yourself. Just do a google search and you can get some youtube videos of sensor replacement and location. Have fun.
