Why is my 1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo slipping gears when starting up from a stop

slips in reverse too? (other shoe falls off......) same answer for all a/t slush boxes. linkage from shifter to box ok?> check levels first. check fuses, if TCM acts dead, (wont autoshift) change the filter, get it serviced. if frisky, read the FSM and do the stall tests and the line pressure tests. otherwise get it fixed.

Need Radio Security code. serial number TQAAA010712826

If your lucky the code may have been written on the back of the manuel. If not and may not have been set try 0000, and if that does not work and your good with the dealer they may help you reprogram the radio free of charge since they are always disconnecting batteries.
You could always log on to www.radio-code.com and they can help you unlock your radio.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Is SAE 5W - 30 ok for my old Jeep and Cheyenne...

Its probably ok but I would recommend 10w30 for anything with more than 100,000 miles on the odometer. Also, 5w30 works better in colder temps, the first number is the "cold thickness" and the second number is the "hot thickness". The bigger the number the thicker the oil in basic terms.

How to replace fuel pump and fuel filter ?

the fuel pump is in your gas tank. make sure all of or most of the gas is out before you drop the tank. the tank is held on by two straps. once you drop it you will have to disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connections to completely separate it from the vehicle. the fuel filter is simple and is held on by two bolts. just follow your fuel line from your fuel pump and you'll find it. make sure to depressurize the fuel system before changing the filter. also make sure your battery is disconnected before changing the fuel pump.

How to replace timing cover gasket on a '97 jeep grand cherokee

Pull the alternator brackets and front engine brackets off until you get to the water pump. You will also need to remove the fan shroud and then the fan. Remove the water pump and then you will see an aluminum cover and that will be your timing cover. remove the cover and clean all the gasket off the engine and the cover. use a razor blade, and make sure there in no oil or grease on the parts where the gasket lies. Put your gasket on, bolt the cover back on with the new gasket and repeat the teardown process in reverse.

I have a 97 jeep grand cherokee...the radiator hose is collapsed. Does that mean I need to replace it or add more fluid or something else?

Hi , it sounds like you have caused a vacum i.e. not enough water in the system. You have to check you car when the engine and water has cooled down. The expansion tank is were the water level has a line you must fill it up to the level line with water when the engine is cold. And when its cold weather you have to use antifreeze to top up the level.
