barn find. (did you spin engine by hand yet?)Fuse first, did you check them first?PDC fuse 2? and JB F20 (only A/t has F20) so...... no transmission stated, Auto or STICK.(yup different) sure all cars ran good once, its a fact, unless some French Citroen? sorry, no reset magic, you get to diagnose it. I guess it's an automatic transmission.??? this is a ZJ jeep, the book on it (real) is free. FSM (real) factory serv. man. http://www.morris4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service So now no more big secrets on your car, the real book. does it crank with shift'er wiggled>? does it crank in neutral as the operators guide tells? are battery lugs, not GREEN with corrosion.? sure hit side of starter gently, to wake it up. (3 years rust inside?)can you turn engine by hand(using a wrench on that large pulley bolt)>?? starter bolts tight, (it needs a ground so mount must be tight) every way and test is here.
http://jeepdied.com/no-crank.html chapter 8w in link 1 ABOVE COVERS THIS. marked WIRING. page. 8w-21 page2, is a bingo remove starter relay out, bonce on table 1 time. put back, (kind of a relay reset,) when cranking do you have 10-12v at "A":and same at "B" if A is dead, we check the coil on relay next for power cranking.
if the Relay coil D11 has 12vdc cranked then fuse is good.if not f20 is blownif stick shift car, the clutch switch bad. lacking 12v here.if have 12v at D11 pinthen the Park neutral pin D13 is failing and seen at 12vdc cranked.that is all there is, (using a volt meter)or learn to hot wire starters, and save all that work.covered on link 2.working with no voltmeter, will be very very hard, got one?what if the barn car , was parked 3 years agowith a bad head gasket (water leaking), and now some cylinders are seized from water/rust damage.I'd put oil in each cylinder, sparks out.1 teaspoon and turn it by hand first.this lowers chances of ring damage. this method.
