How do you aim headlights on 1998 subaru forester
Each Headlight should have 2 adjusters directly behind where the lamp assy is fitted inside the engine bay. 1 will screw in or out to adjust the headlight left to right, the other adjusts up or down.
At oil heat light coming on and causing 4 wheel drive to engage
in subarus all wheel drive is working at all the time ,and there is no oil temp. signal for engine oil, there is only oil pressure sensor. There is one for your rear differential oil ,check if your oil was ever changed ,on the back of differential there is a oil release screw and above it you will find sensor with cable attached to it ,check your oil level ,or replace it with 90w75 synthetic oil ,clean the magnet attached to oil plug ,it also might be oil temp sensor that is bad
I keep having solenoid issues how do I stop this
More detail required. What solenoid? There should be a surge suppressor to prevent the solenoid points from arcing, this might need replacing! No ideas where it is located, go to Subaru parts and ask if such item exists.
Knocking noise near front of engine
On a very cold start (eg winter) older Subs often make knocking noise from the LHS of the engine. This is actually quite normal and is a "feature" of the oil paths in the engine. It goes away once the engine is warm.
Might also be the cam belt hydraulic sensor working loose. The tensioner pivot bolt can be done too light or fitted clumsily, and it strips the thread. If it gets too loose, the belt can jump teeth and bend valves.
How to reset engine light
Disconnect the ground lead on your battery; leave off the post for 1 minute and reconnect the lead.
My horns on 2007 subaru outback does not work
Easy just unbolt & remove voltage plug and go buy new one and install then reattach plug. Horns do go bad and the only thing you can do is replace or check if it make noise while jumping from battery using test light.
Differance betwen intake and exhaust cams 2.5 subbaru
I don't know if you have the capability to zoom in on the picture I attached, But the cams are marked with R EX for right exhaust, R IN for right intake and L EX for left exhaust and L IN for left intake. The circles on the picture are showing where the marks will be on the cams. I hop this info helps!
HOLD light flashing
automatic transmissions are incredibly complex machines! I do NOT recommend diagnosing problems yourself! The best I can suggest, is to try selecting gears manually; Low 1,2,3,neutral, reverse, park. If the car has a selection for overdrive (a D in a circle) avoid that one.
Engine make Knocking noise when cold
I have the same problem on my 2.0L 2001 Legacy auto. It began about 1000 miles ago. It has now done 84k. From my online searches this is most probably 'piston slap', and is not serious. To save weight Subaru shaved down the skirts on the pistons. With normal engine wear the pistons will at some point rattle against the cylinders until the engine is heated up and the pistons expand. The rattling should go away after a few minutes. If it persists say 10-15 minutes, it may be another problem.
