93 jeep grand cherokee, cruise control

first, there is no 'fuse' identified in either of the Haynes or Chilton's manuals. I've looked. There could be a 'fuse link' somewhere in the line, as it's incomprehensible the folks at Chrysler would design this vehicle with a fire hazard built into it like that, no fuse or fuse link or relay known, but the mythological 'fuse' referenced in the troubleshooting section of both manuals.

In any case, if the vacuum line appears to not leak when you open it and **** on the line going to the rest of the vacuum system, or pull vacuum on it with a small handheld vacuum pump, and it doesn't leak, it then becomes an 'electrical' issue.

mine worked flawlessly for a a long time, and suddenly without warning 'died' and wouldn't work one day. It didn't go out on the job, in other words.

last but not least, references to the brake switch are made, but if the brake lights work, that seems to eliminate the brake switch as a possibility.

sounds expensive taking it to a Jeep dealership, but if you have a reputable one (hahahahahahah!) in your vicinity, they might zero in on it fast and fix it cheap, then again, they may not. Driving this vehicle without cruise control across country isn't so bad, but it requires a lot of foot wedging near the pedal, to get that done without having a very tired leg over time.

Where can I get a new VIC for a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8.OEM Part number is 56007088 Thanks

I recently repaired my non-working 1995 ZJ VIC by reflowing the solder on the wire connections to the circuit board, and other cold solder joints. Gently move the clips that hold the plastic housing together to open it up. Mine came right back to life. Alternately, check your local JY, and online auction sites.

Check for a signal at the ignition coil with a node light or a 12 volt led test light while cranking. Check for a signal at a fuel injector connector jack while cranking. If both these signals are missing. Ignition and fuel signals, then the problem may be some common point. My 've will loose both these signals if there is no crank shaft signal or position sensor. CPS is on rear of engine, on transmission bell housing. Check for connections of PCS.

My Cherokee Laredo sputters while driving periodically.

is this a how to diagnose it question or a kids guessing game. we can guess all day, even all week, your CALL ! 1993 still running a "Kodak moment"? wow. that is called MISFIRE, there are over 50 cause of that. are you going to guess up to 50 + times> ? id hope not. and all misfire causes engine power loss, (all) ZJ jeep 3 engines, 5.2L is yours. ever put in new spark plugs??? in last 10 years? you cant burn fuel with bad spark so this is like #1 for 100 years+ gas engines.... test 1, can you save the stall, with a fast right foot if no, the you lost 12vdc to key EFI parts or its fuel problem this be 2nd after new spark parts, (a tuneup is always first of owner does NOT do proper service) why spend 4 hours shop labor only to find , omg,100,000 mile old tuneup parts, (big cash to learn they dont last a life time)??? TUNEUP? filters (both) spark plugs. if those old ratty spark wires are 24years old, they are hopeless distributor cap, same thing distributor rotor same. if it still misfires, it can be injector problems. (lots of tests here) even engine cylinder compression low, we always check 90s cars for this, after all its OLD. generic, data; on 5.2. 9.1:1 CR sea-level spec only. 150psi x8. wide open throttle or more. read data shows 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee. 5.2L v8 9.5:1 CR, 180 PSI ask how to do that test correctly. This 1993 the check engine lamp can glow, running? if it is? , it must be scanned to find the codes, DTC errors Innova 3160 tool can do that. or most good shops. or even the Actron CP9145 (used onlY) the latter tool is the Bee's knees on old cars. with EFI.

1993 jeep grand cherokee loses power at operating temp.

ever do a real tuneup this decade spark parts, and filters. that be first and make sure the hot engine (sized not stated) is really hot. 180F or more, and holds, it must reach normal spec, temp. or the ECU brain will not do its job right. the only clue I have here is skips skips must mean misfire. there are over 50 causes of misfire. bad spark plugs tops the list. and all spark parts there, cap/rotor,wires set this OLD. car is old , needs a major tuneup they to forget all that other stuff, and elaborage what skips means. i guess never cold does it skip. taCH DROPS TO ZERO BUT engine not heard to stall? if yes, electrical problems or CKP failing? what does engine do when TACH does that, matters big time.

I have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee and it died while driving down the freeway, replaced the computer. It turns over but will not start. No spark.

Do you do any testing before you replaced computer? Why did you replace computer? Did you check trouble codes before you replaced anything? If your missing fuel--spark and fuel injector pulse, I'd have to check for rpm signal. On this vehicle, you may need to check cam and crank sensor both. Hopefully you can get some mil codes, but after replacing computer, I don't know? To get mil codes, you can try cycling the ignition switch, on--off, on--off, on--off, on, then the mil on the dash starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. These are two digit codes. I have to post basic info because nobody ever tells us what kind of testing they have done? Listed below are some of the codes. 24618807-5iogupah1tp3marbg0rdity5-4-0.jpg 24618807-5iogupah1tp3marbg0rdity5-4-2.jpg
