I am not aware of any statute of limitations for defective merchandise involved in a NTSA recall. If the recall involved the starter or any part of the electrical system supplying power to the starter, I would call the dealer.

1996 Audi A4 2.6E - Not idling properly.
The ignition coils on your Audi A4 are what provide the spark to the spark plugs, which sit underneath each coil. Every cylinder in your A4's engine has a spark plug and an ignition coil assigned to it. Sometimes, the ignition coils can fail and require replacement. Typical symptoms of a failed ignition coil include a flashing "Check engine" light, a rough idle or hesitant acceleration. Replacing the ignition coils on your A4 is a quick procedure that takes just a few minutes.Instructions- 1
Park your Audi A4 on a level surface and open the hood.
- 2
Remove the plastic rivets that secure the plastic engine cover to your engine with the flathead screwdriver. Depending on your engine, there may be either three or four plastic rivets, which are all very obviously placed. Set the engine cover aside.
- 3
Firmly pull the ignition coil you need to replace up from the engine. Since it does attach to the spark plug, you will need to apply a little force. Be sure to pull directly up so that you do not bend the metal rods at the bottom of the ignition coil.
- 4
Unplug the ignition coil from its wiring harness. Depending on your engine, you may need to use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the loosening latch on the wiring harness.
- 5
Insert the replacement ignition coil into the spark plug cylinder and push directly down until you hear a slight popping noise, which will indicate that it has been installed correctly.
- 6
Replace the plastic engine cover and secure it with the flathead screwdriver and the plastic rivets to complete the procedure.

I usually fill when It gets to be about a 1/4 tank, sometimes A little more. I suggest NEVER waiting until the gas light comes on, or until the gauge goes to the red line.

Car shakes after engine was washed
Of coarse it doesYou do know that engines are not suppostto be washed? For the last say 28 years, there are a lot ofelectrical connectors, sensors, etc that will get wet,as well as ignition items. You can carefully cover some things & spot clean, but need an air hose to blow out things that get wetYou certainly wouldn't have someone clean an engine for you,you see why.

Water at the back seat
Water leaks can be very evasive. They can originate in one end of the vehicle and fill the floor board in the other end of the vehicle, depending on where the water is getting in at. Obviously, the first things to check would be the weatherstripping around the rear doors and the back glass. Also, check inside the trunk to see if there is any water. I have seen trunk lid leaks that can run forward into the rear seat area. If none of this works, you may have to remove your interrior panels and run water over the car to locate the leak.
