Traction control light comes and goes on the dash board
Get an obd2 code reader or borrow one from a major auto shop and they'll help you out in retrieving it. You can get wireless ones that will transmit the codes to your phone. You can get them for as cheap as $5 with free shipping. ELM327 Bluetooth obd2 transmitters work best with Android and the wifi ones are better for iphones. Then you something like Dash Commander or Torque Lite to grab the codes and translate what's going on.
It will not shift automatically
I take it it is the mercury or Town car in the Pic? Sounds like the shift valve in the transmission is gummed up or the "o" ring is damaged. The pan must come off the transmission and the valve or valve body needs cleaning. You local tyranny shop should be able to fix it with a tranny filter and oil change for around $300
Is this a easy fix
You'll need to add some detail here. All your question has for context is '1996 Mercury Mystique'. Adding washer fluid or lubing the door hinges is easy. A new head gasket isn't. The part broken is probably the blower motor resistor. Go online and look up this part by Year and Model. Sometimes besides the part, a photo of the location will be included in the article.
This is a part that sometimes can be tapped with a broom handle or snowbrush and reactivated. Sad part of this is that it may work longer than any replacement part you would buy. Some had bad solder on components and would reconnect by tapping and arcing a new bond. So I really can't say that a new part would last better.
Car cuts off when stopped at a light

STEERING WHEEL PLAY
There are a few areas in which play can develop. The tie- rod ends and mounts for the rack and pinion can wear out. Also the valving within the rack and pinion can leak fluid within the seals for the rods inside the rack and pinion.It would be good to have this checked because when the rack and pinion rods are extended, they can sometime jam and fail to retract, leaving you locked in a turn to one side or the other.
Dont get hot
Check thermostat located on top radiator hose connected to engine. Good idea to change it and rule out.
