Read and write down OBD codes . Flick ignition key back and forth quickly 3 times from on to off and write down all the codes dispalyed on the odometer. google make model OBD codes on net and find out what is wrong with your car.

power steering pump belt fell off.,or loose/ fluid is low/ pump is shot/ power steering ram is wornout/damaged. did you hit/slide front wheel into a curb?

You need to find a better mechanic who cares about customer service for one . I would have the fuel injectors flushed they will know if you need new injectors that way . Its a shame that he has so much Frustration it usually means he don't know what he is doing because if he did he would fix the problem instead of getting upset !!! Shift interlock binding,try pushing shifter into park a little harder with the key in the run position.

Two or three bolts at the exhaust manifold. Heat them to get them off. Cut the rest off with a saws-all. Don't cut the rubber hangers, reuse them. Weld or use hose clamps to re install.

The gas gauge sender is malfunctioning. It is inside the gas tank. This is for experienced handymen or a garage to do.

your car is dangerous on the road. it aint worth shop repairs... if hubby is a dufus. buy a newer 4 cyl car /sebring. not a six cyl.

i would say the metal is from the bearings. a timing chain would be a waste of effort at this point. if you get a used engine with 70000 miles or more, i would replace the water pump and probly the timing chain.if you get later model engine the flywheel and camshaft gear will have to be changed or it wont run.

if you have the 2.4 engine, the water pump is external and driven by the timing belt.you need a water pump - timing belt component kit. the 2.7 has a internal water pump driven by the timing chain. here again you should install a water pump- timing kit. 2.7 is more complex and expensive to change

its in the alternator, the pcm is right behind the drivers headlight, its rectangular and has two large electrical connectors

Not sure what you mean by "lock Piece". Are you talking about a chip key or remote? Or are you talking about something physical on the car?

Is yours a coupe, sedan or convertible? If it's a sedan or convertible, there's acalibration technique you can run. With the engine running, turn the temp all the way to the cold side. Turn the mode all the way to the defrost position. Put the fan switch to any position other than off. Then press the rear defroster button until you hear a chime. Let it go. The system will go thru some gyrations and give you a "report" in your odometer readout. A "0" is good. You may have a bad control head. As you noted, the default mode is defrost, so if the body computer senses a loss of signal from the controls, it will put it into defrost. Again assuming yours is a convertible or sedan, salvage control heads are fairly commonly available on ebay and in junkyards. The part is used in the sedan and convertible and in the Dodge Stratus from 2001 through 2006, so there are lots of them out there. It's an easy replacement which I would definitely try before tearing the dash apart. The IOD fuse is the one in the middle of the fuse panel at the left end of the dashboard. Easily recognized by the "ears". You can pop it out with no tools.

Check that the shift linkage is connected at the trans, if it is, put some transmission fluid in it after checking the dipstick while running in neutral with brake on.

remove air cleaner housing, two hoses run two transmission side by on top front of tranny... clamps come loose and leak....
