Car wont blow hot air
Does it blow any air at all?If it does, then check the operation of the valve, situated on the side of the heater matrix. The heater matrix is in the centre of the vehicle, under the dash. Roughly behind where most car stereos are situated. You'll have to remove any black, plastic shrouds to get to it.Work the hot/cold setting and check the valve for movement. If it is a motor actuated valve and in the even the valve doesn't move, then also check power to the motor. If you have no power to the motor, or if the cable operated valve isn't moving then check the switch mechanism or wire/wiring.

Misfire,stumbles,brake pedal gets like a brick!!! 2.5liter V6 mercury cougar 2000yr
I have ran in to this before as an engine performance and emmission technician.
Sounds like the problem is in the brake booster area is leaking vacuum (air) in to the engine causing a major missfire due to a lean condition. The best way to check this with the engine off and cool so you dont burn your hands. Remove the big vacum hose that goes up to the brake booster and plug the vacum port to the engine. Make sure you get a good seal on the plug and no air is sucking down when engine is running. After that start the engine and make sure it is running smoothly, apply the brakes and see if the engine remains running smoothly. 99.999% of the times the issie is with booster tht when you apply the brakes you allowing vacuum to leak in to engine.
Replace booster and hose with new, do not go to junk yard . By tge way the brake pedal will be stiff because it needs vacuum to make smooth so dont alarm your sekf while testing it.
Good luck and let me know what happens.
My 2000 cougar 2.5L won't start. Makes a high
Tap on the side of the starter with a pry bar and a hammer while making sure to stay away from the electrical connections. The high pitched noise you are hearing is the starter drive spinning but not engaging. This should help get the car started so you can get it to a repair shop or the parts store.
Got a 2000 Cougar that has a charging problem, new
THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MINE. AFTER $400 I REALIZED IT WAS THE FUSE WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE ALTERNATOR. IT WAS BROKEN AND WOULD COME LOOSE AT ANY SLIGHT BUMP, THEN IMMEDIATELY KILL THE BATTERY. FIRST THE RADIO WENT OUT THEN THE DASH LIGHTS. ANYWAY I GOT A NEW ONE FOR $40 AND PROBLEM SOLVED. =]

How do you stop the anti thief from beeping on a cougar 2000 V6 after it needing a boost due to battery was dead.
You need a new battery to fix the PATS System (alarm)
Best to never jump a battery
Test it & try charging it, so as not to risk ruining the
vehicles electronics
All vehicles have problems & neglect to work on them, or
spend the money, to try & have a pro do the required work,
results in your so called junk
When you buy a used vehicle,I will agree,
your half way to junk
The tire issue is no different from any other problem
An alignment is not the answer
The answer is to inspect the entire front suspension
& replace all worn parts first
The way it runs, again, is lack of knowledge & neglect to
work in it,understanding what needs to be done, as far a Preventative Maintenance & the required professional testing required once or twice a year, with the right tools & on a road test
It is not a ford problem or a vehicle specific problem you have
It is lack of knowledge or other personnel issues, such as money,
not knowing how to find a good shop or learn to do some of the
work yourself
Cougar troubleshooting
Spray some starter fluid into the air intake and see if it fires. If it does, then immediately shuts off, its probably a fuel problem. If it doesnt, it could be a spark problem ( which is more common). Check the spark from each wire(lots of videos online for how to do this). If the spark is bad in one of them, change the wires. If spark checks out, try changing the spark plugs. If problem persists, it could be air. Get back to me anod i'll help more when you do these things.
Driver power window wont work
Could be the switch, the motor, or the regulator. You will need a test light or multimeter to determine where the problem is.
