Need schematic of tachometer; housing says MY89 6
Tachs are really not that expensive... problem with the tach from your jeep is that it's not connected to the ign coil in a traditional sense, instead, it is connected to the engine control module, which may contain part of what would normally be found inside a seperate unit, making your tach, basically a volt meter with a different scale on it.
Before taking it apart and rendering it useless for anything, I'd get a tach made for use on the vehicle you intend to put it in.

It does sound like a vacuum leak. Get a can of WD-40 and start spraying around the carb. It will rev up, and U can pin point the loose vacuum hose, are crack vacuum hose.

No Heat 1988 Jeep wrangler
any time you do not have hot water in the hoses to the in side of the vehicle, your water has quit either due to you having only water in the system and it froze in the winter and you started it . or the propeller just broke of old age. make sure u dont have a check valve in the hoses going to the heater core in side the car. valve would be under the hood somewhere in the duration of one of the two hoses, which is the feed. this should do u good

1988 jeep will not start
if its equiped with a crank sensor i would chk. that, if crank sensor bad you won't get no spark either.

Check your spark plugs. Without good spark plugs the ignition won't ignite. Just go look for Jeep spark plugs at like AutoZone and they are real cheap. To change them you will need a long socket wrench to twist them out and change each one.

1988 jeep wrangler carb trouble
Ok... If you have any experience with carbs, you can get a rebuild kit. The most important part of any rebuild is to clean out obstructions in the passageways. Most times this can be done by using carb cleaner and spraying compressed air through them.Most times, just spraying cleaner into carb while installed is a waste of time as debris usually consists mainly of fine rust particles from inside the fuel tank, which will remain in the fuel bowl unless physically removed. If you can't do this, next best option is to search local junkyards for a similar unit. When replacing, cut the fuel line in a convenient place ahead of the carb inlet and put an aftermarket filter in the line, to prevent debris from re-entering and causing further problems. Most carbs have the adjustments blocked off. before using, it is wise to have someone who knows how to remove those plugs, do this for you so you can adjust it after installed.

I have a 88 jeep
That rod may have pulled of wire going to starter, or ground strap in that area. No headlights, nothing? Disconnect (+) positive connection at battery for now, and have a look along the path the rod may have taken for a cut or broken wire or strap.

1998 Jeep Wrangler Electrical Short in Steering Column?
I had a similar problem with my 2000 Jeep TJ and I found the problem in the wiring harness under the hood.several wires were corroded and almost burnt off.If you remove the black tape which keeps the harness bundled together and if you see evidence of "green" type powder or "gook" it's most likely where the wires have faulted.

My 88 wrangler runs out of power to get up a hill
Got a 4.0 in there? I'll bet the timing chain has streched. At about 160K, the strech on the chain causes the distributor (cam sensor) to be "out of phase" with the crank sensor, effectively messing just enough with the engine ignition timing, to give you these symptoms. On older vehicles, you could simply adjust the base timing by turning the distributor. Yours is locked in one position, therefore you can't do that. I don't recommend you do this but there is a way to "cheat".
You need to remove the distributor and grind off the hold down tab so it is now able to turn past the hold-down bolt. Place a large flat washer under the bolt(with one edge ground down to conform to the distributor housing) The timing can then be changed. If you turn it about 1/4" CCW, you will note an immediate change in performance. Use a timing light to bring timing up to about 4 degrees advanced.(back off a bit if getting into knock on hills). This will buy you some time before changing chain. Remember though this is temporary and that the base problem needs to be dealt with!!!

check your fuel pump relay and your ignition switch those numbers you gave for voltage are not right, please recheck that you have a ground and 12volts at the pump while cranking please rate -jeff

Did you check the fuel filter? Did you check pump pressure? A faulty pump or a partially plugged filter can do this. Obviously filter is the first thing... it's easy to do and is often neglected, likely overdue for service anyhow! There are other things that can also cause your problem but I'd look at the common stuff first!

Temp Guage Issue
could b thermostat....when car warmed up check hoses from radioator if not hot change thermostat
